Review: The Dead Daisies – Radiance

First of all I love this band and I’m a massive John Corabi fan, which of course isn’t much use when you have their latest album to review and JC has left the building some now two albums ago. I won’t lie i was not into Glenn Hughes joining this band that I really loved.
I love the Daisies and I love Hughes but together I couldn’t see it working. I’m extremely proud to be able to say that I got that one completely wrong as if the last album ‘Holy Ground‘ hadn’t proved it to me then this one definitely does, as its a blooming corker!! The riffs are there and then some. How Doug Aldrich does it album after after album just defies all logic, but when you have Brian Tichy in the drum engine room and of course Hughes on bass it must be heaven to know all you have to do on top is ‘your thing!’
Hughes sounds as great vocally as he’s ever been. So what can one expect when they hear this? Well, The Dead Daisies really – I know that sounds daft but its rocking riff/song one after another. It’s like being in the musical ring equivalent of boxing Muhammid Ali. If this doesn’t get your foot tapping, your head nodding and an outstretched hand to turn up your volume control then I don’t know what will.
The band is on top form here and with other guitarist David Lowy providing the extra layer of guitars then this album and band just can’t go wrong. Go buy it and listen LOUD!
