The Dead Daisies will release a new EP ‘The Lockdown Sessions‘ on July 17th.

The band’s fifth studio album ‘Holy Ground’ was due to be released this year followed by a world tour, however the coronavirus pandemic meant the band were forced to cancel both.

The Dead Daisies have signed a new record deal with SPV, and have confirmed that ‘Holy Ground’ will now be released on Friday 22nd January 2021.

The Dead Daisies guitarist and founder David Lowy says “As soon as it had become clear that our tour and album release would have to be postponed until 2021, we recorded these acoustic tracks with our fans in mind. ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ is our way to stay in touch with everyone despite the global restrictions.

Singer Glenn Hughes adds: “Love is the answer & Music is the healer, let’s rock n’ roll together.

The Lockdown Sessions’ consists of stripped back versions of recent Dead Daisies tracks ‘Unspoken’ and Righteous Days, plus a cover of the Humble Pie track ‘30 Days In The Hole’.

The final track is a cover version of the Creedence Clearwater Revival song ‘Fortunate Son’, which features drummer Deen Castronovo on vocals.

In a time when certain parts of the music industry are trying to claim that ‘Rock is Dead’, The Dead Daisies are leading a charge that’s taking them to the road not only in clubs and concert halls but straight to the very heart of rock music lovers and musician’s communities.

The American All-Star Rock Collective comprised of Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream), Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy), Deen Castronovo (Bad English, Journey) and David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink) has been known to put their fans first in everything they do which has garnered them a groundswell of support akin to the 70s rock bands we all know and love.

Venues will open their doors one hour early to the first 50 in-line with the band playing an intimate, private ‘DaisylandAcoustic Set after which they’ll mingle, say hi and sign albums, posters etc. The goal is to rekindle that close connection the way it used to be, when bands would regularly meet some of their audience at music events, giving their time to the people that bought their records and concert tickets, unlike the hundreds of dollars some bands charge in today’s music world for a meet & greet.

To that end, The Dead Daisies are taking it to the streets across the UK throughout November and can’t wait to bring the house down on their ‘Daisyland’ UK Winter Tour performing 120-minute sets including an acoustic interlude each and every night, with two different sets lined up for the two London gigs. Fans who buy a special two-night ticket for the London shows will also receive a commemorative exclusive laminate.

We cannot wait to come back to the UK and rock with you! The pre-show acoustic shows are too much fun and give us a chance to connect with our fans more than ever and pull out some deep cuts and favorites in an intimate setting – do not miss it!!”, says guitarist Doug Aldrich.

Superlative special guest acts from across the rock spectrum are set to enthrall at the band’s nine headline concerts, from trusted classics Diamond Head, Tygers Of Pan Tang, Chrome Molly, Oliver / Dawson Saxon and No Hot Ashes, through to new UK rock sensation Massive Wagons.

Review: The Dead Daisies – Burn It Down

Spitfire Music (April 2018)

Reviewer: David Mark Pearce

Okay, let’s bake a cake – a “Rock” cake, of course! Let’s see …… as it’s a “Rock” Cake we’ll need some very specific ingredients: a dash of Kiss; a couple of teaspoons of Grand Funk Railroad; some Black Sabbath; a pinch of Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Whitesnake and Motley Crüe, then blend with some Jack Daniels. When the mix is ready, place in the rock ‘n’ roll oven for the last fifty odd years and ta daaaaa – you have yourself the new Dead Daisies album.

It’s now ready to serve so here goes but, wait, it’s so hot when it comes out of the oven that your house goes up in flames. Yes, the tenuous link has arrived, the band did indeed ‘Burn It Down‘ lol. We got there in the end! In a roundabout way, what I’m saying is that this is a band which truly wears every single one of its’ influences on its’ sleeve and when it comes to solo sections in a live setting, they play them in place of just the normal solos one might expect to hear.

I think, though, there are less sing a long choruses and hooks on this album (if compared to their previous one,) but that trade off has been balanced by the heavier direction they’ve taken on this album. Does it deter in any way, I hear you ask? No, not in my opinion. This band is superb and is just a straight ahead, good old fashioned, rock band.

Someone said to me they were just a rich man’s plaything. Well, he may well be indulging himself and employing some of the best musicians around. If I had the money, I would – but, so what. These guys are still putting their respective names to something and you’re only as good as the last thing you do, so I would dismiss that statement as rubbish and ignorant, to a large degree!

Anyway, if I were you, I’d buy your very own slice of The Dead Daisies version of a rock cake and enjoy the new album, as there is plenty on offer to digest!

The Dead Daisies have released an Official video for ‘Resurrected‘, taken from their forthcoming new album ‘Burn It Down‘.

John Corabi about the new record: “I’m extremely excited about our new record ‘Burn It Down‘! It was a pleasure to once again work with Marti Frederiksen and the band on what I believe is the next great step in The Dead Daisies journey. This is a balls-out old school rock record!!! Enjoy it, and see you all on our massive 2018 world tour!!!! Peace, Crabby

Doug Aldrich puts it quite simply, yet to the point: “The new Daisies album will melt your face! It is raw and in-your-face with a whole new sound!

Line up:

Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio)

John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream)

Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy)

Burn It Down‘ is a muscular tour-de-force, a tornado of pounding drums, pulverizing bass, screaming guitars and in-your-face raw vocals. Evoking the best of 70s Rock, with moments of Birmingham’s finest, blended with the early works of Boston’s best, ‘Burn It Down‘ will do just that: Burn down everything in it’s path until there is nothing left standing.

Recorded in Nashville with Marti Frederiksen at the helm, the band finished their 4th studio album ‘Burn It Down‘ in December, with Anthony Focx once again handling the mix and mastering legend Howie Weinberg adding his magic.
