On the heels of the glowing reception for their previous record, ‘5‘, which racked up a run of flawless 10/10 verdicts, Nightblade recognized the high bar set before them. Steering clear of simply rehashing past formulas, the group pushed the envelope. Centred on punchier guitar work, driving rhythms, memorable hooks, and the band’s signature unconventional turns, ‘Something To Say‘ finds Nightblade delivering a bolder, grittier, and more commanding presence, while keeping the sharp alternative edge and classic rock backbone that anchor their identity.
Frontman Mark Crosby openly discusses the weight that followed ‘5‘: “Following the success of ‘5’ and receiving those top scores, the creative pressure was undeniably intense. Nightblade had a massive standard to match. But the whole band feels immense pride in ‘Something To Say’—the collective belief is that this collection stands shoulder to shoulder with, if not surpasses, ‘5’.”
The full record will be released on Friday 22nd January, complete with an off-the-wall surprise tucked into the running order—a rendition few would have anticipated from the group: “Who would ever have thought ABBA was on the cards…?”
Since re-emerging in 2020 with ‘Ignorance Is Bliss‘, Nightblade have sustained an unbroken surge of productivity, turning out ‘Unknown Territories‘, ‘Hope To Be There‘, ‘That’s The Way You Want It‘, and ‘5‘. Through that relentless drive, they have carved out a reputation as one of the UK underground’s most industrious acts, winning steady backing across rock publications and airwaves alike. With the launch now locked in, Crosby sums up the mood: “We poured everything into crafting this record—now it’s time to send it out into the world and see how it lands.”
