In 1969 and 1970, Plumpton Racecourse played host to one of the most legendary — yet overlooked — festivals in British music history. Acts like Pink Floyd, The Who, Ginger Baker, Peter Green, and Black Sabbath lit up the Sussex skies before the festival was forced to relocate. Eventually evolving into what we now know as the Reading Festival.
Now, more than 50 years on, that forgotten chapter of British counterculture is set to roar back into life.
Following its welcome return in 2026, Plumpton Revival will return for its second year, taking place on August 8th–9th, 2027, transforming the racecourse into a full-scale, immersive reimagining of those extraordinary late-60s/early-70s weekends.
“It’s more than just a tribute — this is about reclaiming a forgotten chapter of UK music history and re-igniting it for a new generation,” said Theo Crew, Creative Producer.
Camping opens on Friday 6th August 2027 at midday and will close midday on Monday 9th August 2027. In addition, Dogs welcome, on a lead – free dog ticket needed, Folding chairs are welcome in the arena (no tents or windbreaks), free showers and toilets in the camping areas and On-site parking is available but limited – book ahead.

Line-up:
The event will be headlined on Saturday 7th August 2027 by the legendary Jethro Tull’s Martin Barre Band, Jethro Tull‘s guitarist of 43 years, and the hand behind the Aqualung riff. A lifetime of Tull, live at Plumpton.
Caravan Acoustic will also appear on the Saturday – Canterbury scene legends, formed in 1968 and fresh from playing to a quarter of a million people at Kralingen when they arrived at Plumpton in 1970. They return in acoustic form, fifty-seven years on.
Martin Turner (Ex-Wishbone Ash) – Founding bassist and voice of Wishbone Ash, who played here the same summer with their debut album still unrecorded. He brings that catalogue back to where it was first heard live.
The Saturday also includes Belgian Quo Band (feat. Leon Cave & Richie Malone) – The Status Quo experience, featuring two of the band’s own.
Canada’s blues-rock powerhouse, Anthony Gomes is joining Martin Barre Band at the top of the bill for the Sunday and is being flown internationally for the set. Three number ones on the Billboard Blues Chart, named by Total Guitar one of the 100 Greatest Blues Guitarists of All Time, and endorsed by B.B. King.
Also being flown in internationally are Basement Saints – Guitar, Hammond, and drums – channelling Deep Purple and Uriah Heep.
They will also be joined by Modern British rock band These Wicked Rivers who recently had their latest album reach number one on the Official Rock and Blues Chart.
Letz Zep – The globe-trotting Led Zeppelin tribute. A whole lotta love.
Other bands performing across the weekend include South African blues-rock guitarist Dan Patlansky (Hand-picked by Springsteen, voted the world’s fourth best guitarist), Deborah Bonham (Blues, rock and soul, with Led Zeppelin in the family tree), Leaf Hound (Cult British heavy blues, whose 1971 album Growers of Mushrooms became one of the most sought-after records of its era), Ben Poole (Brighton-honed, Jeff Beck-approved. Practically a local), Laura Evans (Welsh valleys meets Nashville, straight to number one on the blues chart), Creedence Rising (A Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute; the bayou rolls on), Sabbotage (The thunder of Black Sabbath, note for note), The Mustangs (British rhythm & blues, decades in the making), The Dead Reds (Dirty British blues, psych and rock ‘n’ roll from Brighton), The Ulterior Motives (Modern British guitar music with mod, indie and new wave DNA), Advent Stella (Local Prog hard rock, with keys that’d make Deep Purple proud), Dirt Road Band (Good-time, boot-stompin’ rock ‘n’ roll), Miller Anderson’s ‘Salute to Keef Hartley’ (Miller was the Keef Hartley Band’s singer and guitarist at Woodstock in 1969, and on the Plumpton bill the following year. With Brothers in the Blues), Selina & The Howlin’ Dogs (Howlin’ blues with attitude), R.A.D (Back by popular demand after opening Plumpton last summer), Almost Allman Brothers UK (Twin guitars and southern soul – the Allman Brothers, jams and all), The Big Wolf Band (Award-winning British Blues), The Awesome Dawson Band (Timeless Americana, by name, by nature), Kozmic Pearl (The incredible Janis Joplin tribute, already a favourite, back for 2027), The Whisky Flowers (Blues award winners, and voted by you to return next year) and Hokum & Hooch (Two people, half a dozen instruments, and a whole lot of love).
More artists will be announced over the coming months. Please be advised that the line-up is subject to change.
But Plumpton Revival is far more than a music festival. Organisers will announce further information regarding new programmed areas in due course.
