Following ‘Better Days Ahead‘, ‘Live To Ride‘ and ‘Till the End of Time‘, the new single adds another perspective to a record that brings together the many sides of Chris Johnson’s musical background.
‘Days Like These‘ sits comfortably in the space where Country, Rock and Southern influences meet, a territory Johnson has inhabited naturally throughout his career. Rather than chasing a particular genre or formula, the music on ‘Tales From The Cowboy Palace‘ reflects the experiences, places and people that have shaped him over the years.
That sense of authenticity runs through the entire album. There is no attempt to separate Country from Rock or Blues from Americana: those elements simply coexist, carried by strong musicianship and songs that feel connected to real life rather than constructed around trends.
A Southern California native, Chris Johnson grew up in a family of professional musicians and began performing at an early age before studying at Hollywood’s Musicians Institute. His career has included Rumor Haz-It, The Big Johnson Band and Blues Train, while his work has also brought him alongside musicians such as Gregg Bissonette, Matt Bissonette, T Lavitz, Mike Thompson and Denny Freeman.
oday, The Hollywood Hillbillies provide the setting where all those influences come together. The forthcoming album features Jordan Ziff of Ratt and Trans-Siberian Orchestra on lead guitar and Federico Delfino, known for his work with Sebastian Bach, Madman Theory and Mercury Riots, on bass.
Johnson’s career reaches far beyond his own recordings. As a highly regarded guitar and studio technician, he has worked around artists and producers including Eddie Van Halen, Warren Haynes, John Fogerty, Steve Lukather, Steve Stevens, Tommy Shaw and Rick Rubin.
He is also the owner of Hollywood Studio Rentals, Drum Paradise Los Angeles and The Cowboy Palace Saloon, the legendary San Fernando Valley honky-tonk that gives the forthcoming album its name.
‘Tales From The Cowboy Palace‘ will be released on December 11th, 2026 via Rustbelt Electric.
With ‘Days Like These‘, Chris Johnson & The Hollywood Hillbillies offer another glimpse into a record shaped less by genre boundaries than by a lifetime spent living inside the music.
