Today, Tarja releases ‘Tango‘, her spectacular collaboration with Finnish cello metal pioneers Apocalyptica and the latest single from her studio album ‘Frisson Noir‘. Arriving alongside an official music video, the track unites two of Finland’s most iconic musical forces, on record and on screen.

Opening on a seductive tango rhythm carried by Apocalyptica’s cellos, the song builds tension until guitars, drums and cellos crash in for a huge, cinematic chorus. Tarja’s voice rises from intimate restraint to full power as she tells the haunting story of a life that passes by almost unnoticed.
Tarja says: “I wanted this song to be a special one, and as I have always loved the sound of the cello, Apocalyptica was the perfect artist to work with. Eicca, Perttu and Paavo made my dream come true.”
Apocalyptica add: “We have known Tarja since the mid-90s and working with her has always been at the top of our list of featuring artists or collaborators. It was so great to finally find the time and the song to work together. She originally redefined what it means to combine classical singing with metal and we are so happy for this collaboration.”
The official video brings Tarja together with all three members of Apocalyptica: Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso and Paavo Lötjönen, in a dark, cinematic performance that matches the drama of the song.
Collectors are in for something special: on 27th November 2026, “Tango” arrives as a strictly limited 10″ vinyl single, pressed in just 500 copies worldwide. Side A features the album version, while Side B offers two previously unreleased recordings, ‘Tää Tango – Piano Demo‘ and ‘Tää Tango – Band Demo‘. Both demos are exclusive to the 10″ vinyl and not available digitally, offering a rare glimpse into how the song took shape from the very first piano sketch that gave ‘Tango‘ its name.
