With roots going back to the 1990s, ‘Sins for the Gods‘ is one of the oldest songs in SAEKO’s catalogue and one of the most meaningful pieces in her artistic journey. Originally recorded as a demo and later officially released on her debut album in 2004, the track was born from an emotional reaction to conflict and human suffering, raising questions about silence, faith and the search for meaning in difficult times.

Over the years, the song continued to evolve. In 2017 it was revisited in a piano version produced by Alessandro Del Vecchio, revealing a different side of its emotional character. Now, with ‘Sins for the Gods (Reimagined)‘, Saeko opens a new chapter for the track.

Rather than recreating the original, this new version expands it. New lyrical elements and an extended arrangement, particularly in the final section after the guitar solo, reshape the direction of the song and lead it toward a different ending than previous versions.

Musically, the track balances atmosphere and intensity while preserving the identity of the original composition. The new arrangement was developed together with Saeko’s current international line-up: Guido Benedetti (Trick Or Treat) on guitars, Alessandro Sala (Rhapsody Of Fire) on bass and Michael Ehré (Metalium, Gamma Ray, The Unity) on drums.

Sins for the Gods (Reimagined)‘ continues the path opened by the first single ‘Seek the Light (Reimagined)‘ and further introduces the concept behind ‘Back to Life‘, an EP that revisits songs written across different periods of Saeko’s life, bringing them into the present through a unified sound and a renewed perspective.

The title Back to Life reflects not only an artistic restart, but also a personal one. Following a period marked by injury, surgery and unexpected challenges, the EP became an opportunity to reconnect with music from a new point of view.

The release of ‘Sins for the Gods (Reimagined)‘ also coincides with the first-ever digital reissue of Saeko’s second album, ‘Life‘. Originally released in 2006, the album now becomes available again for listeners worldwide, bringing another important chapter of Saeko’s catalogue back into circulation and reconnecting past and present during this new creative phase.

Saeko first gained international recognition after moving from Japan to Germany in the early 2000s to pursue her musical career. In 2004 she toured Europe with metal icon Doro Pesch, and in 2005 she became the first Asian female artist to perform at Wacken Open Air. Since then, she has continued to develop a distinctive musical identity built on melodic power metal, emotional depth and a connection between cultures and generations.

With ‘Sins for the Gods (Reimagined)‘, Saeko once again demonstrates that songs can continue to grow over time, changing shape while remaining true to where they began.
