Review: Tyketto ‘Closer To The Sun Tour’, support Warrior Soul & Collateral

An early ‘kick off’ for tonight’s entertainment, due to Rock City’s student disco/club night, so Collateral hit the stahe before half six. Thankfully there was a decent crowd gatering already, which continued to grow throughout their sadly short set. Regular readers will know of my love and support for the band, and I never miss the chjance to see / photograph them. The one weird thing for me was seeing them without Benny behind the kit. However Charlie played a solid, underpining that Collateral soundtrack!

I’m guessing it’s around 35 years since last seeing Warrior Soul, might of been at the Marquee but my memory is somewhat hazy. I’ll be honest and say they’re not really my cup of tea and I thought they were an odd choice for the tour as they don’t really fit genre wise with Tyketto, or Collateral. The crowd certainly enjoyed their set, so for the band it was mission accomplished.

I first saw Tyketto on March 30^th, 1994. I know this as I still have the ticket! Since then I’ve seen the band numerous times, with different line-up’s. One thing that has remained a constant is the music and the performances. Danny Vaughn‘s vocals are still so strong and recognisable, a longevity that doesn’t extend to many rock vocalists. The current line-up consisting of the aforementioned Mr. Vaughn, and messers Rylands, Childs, Dee andScott Elliott delivered a polished set, one that delighted the crowd, filled as it was with songs from latest release ‘Closer To The Sun‘, as well as that staple of classic Tyketto numbers.

Again, mission accomplished, as it always is when it comes to Tyketto live..
