Cats In Space have released ‘For The Love Of It‘, a documentary about the band’s ‘Kickstart The Sun‘ Part 2 Tour.
Says the band: “Your music is rich and evocative of a certain era because it’s made and played the same way as it was in a certain era. You’ve had several top ten hits between you, but you don’t want to ride the wake of bygone glories. You’re eager to bring new manifestations of what you love from your latest acclaimed album to a live audience. It’s tough to rise up like a sunflower from a corn field in today’s touring world, no matter how hard you dream.
“The music industry is no longer a land of money and opportunity; it’s awash with millions of bedroom artists desperate for their 5 minutes of phone fame. The only ticket out is fans-on-seats but that’s no mean feat for a band of vagabond artists who aren’t, strictly speaking, 30 years old any more. ‘Hey! Let’s do a theatre tour!…’ ‘Cor blimey! You could lose your house on that!’ ‘Sod it…… let’s do it!’
“Calling on the decades of favours owed to the touring team from decades of shows, a plan took shape to scavenge, steal, borrow and build a stage show that nobody could picture, let alone afford, then put it through a string of UK theatres to lift the band outside the eternal hamster-wheel of the UK club circuit. With optimism far beyond the glaring realities of how this could ever be feasible, For The Love of It documents how doing something that you love is something that you always do best.
“With arena dreams and Town Hall budget, the band and their entourage embark on a unique adventure into putting on a technically adept and visually impressive theatre show, like a fish taking to land. ‘For The Love Of It‘ is a heart-warming dive into hope, glasses half-full and the desire to sustain the long-established art of keeping live music at the top of things that make crowds smile.”
