Manchester’s dirty rock n blues mavericks, Gorilla Riot are delighted to announce a new song, ‘Sometimes Birds Never Fly‘, out today on Weds 4th Aug across all download and streaming platforms.
‘Sometimes Birds Never Fly‘, is the second song taken from their 4-track acoustic EP, ‘Solace‘, which is released week commencing Mon 6th September.
‘Solace‘ is available in Digital & CD digipak formats and can be ordered direct from www.gorillariotband.com
The song coincides with the announcement of a UK co-headline tour with fellow rock dirtbags, Doomsday Outlaw, playing in 5 Academy Group venues across England.
GR frontman, Arjun Bhishma, said, “‘Sometimes Birds Never Fly‘, is a song about a very real point in my musical career when I had just left my old band and I was 90% sure I was going to give up the dream for good. I’d had some good times, but nothing had worked out as I had imagined and I was sad and defeated. There was just a little voice in my heart telling me to give it one last try, to at least play with your ideal band one time.
That’s when I called Liam and Charly and put Gorilla Riot together. This song is about that weekend.”
He went on, “‘Solace‘ is four very personal songs that I didn’t think would fit with the band. However, the boys liked them and, as always, took them to a level that I could never have imagined, bringing more nuance, texture and meaning to each song.
We are also stoked to be heading out across England with our brothers in Doomsday Outlaw. It’s a concentrated run to pack as much hard-living fun into 5 dates as possible, kicking off in London on Thursday 10th Feb. We sure as hell, can’t wait!”
The dates include:
Thurs 10 Feb – O2 Academy2, Islington
Fri 11 Feb – O2 Academy2, Liverpool
Thur 17 Feb – O2 Institute3, Birmingham
Fri 18 Feb – O2 Academy2, Leicester
Sat 19 Feb – O2 Academy2, Sheffield
Gorilla Riot are a 5-piece dirty rock n’ roll blues machine from Manchester, England. Equally at home acoustically or electrically they use a 3-prong guitar attack with multi-part vocal harmonies; they play raucous blues-based rock, combining elements of grunge, stoner, and country to create a full-on high energy experience.
Mainman, Arjun Bhishma, surrounded himself with the best talent in Manchester to form Gorilla Riot. Arjun, is joined by Liam Henry (guitars & vocals), Charly T. (guitars & vocals), Deggy (bass), and Will Lewis on skins.
They have toured extensively across the UK, Spain and France, including Planet Rock Roadstars tour with Piston and Hannah Wicklund. They performed a sold-out launch show at Rebellion in Manchester in February 2020 for their album ‘Peach‘ but were then forced to cancel their album tour due to the countrywide lockdown.
Along with the release of ‘Peach‘, Gorillia Riot had their song, Bad Son, included on the vinyl chart-topping ‘Earache presents New Wave Of Rock N Roll’ compilation album.
They release ‘Solace‘ ahead of entering the studio to record their next full album.
