Review: Sweat – Who Do They Think They Are? Tee Pee Records (May 26th 2023) Reviewer: Dan Mann Until the arrival of the promo in my inbox I’ll admit that I hadn’t heard of Pittsburgh-based Swiss-American quartet, Sweat. But I’m damn glad I have now! Sweat are one of the ‘new breed’ of bands, along […]

New York’s legendary underground rock label Tee Pee Records is thrilled to announce the official release of ‘Who Do They Think They Are?‘, the debut album from Pittsburgh-based Swiss-American quartet, Sweat. After leaving her home in Basel with a heart hungry for authentic vintage rock, it didn’t take long for vocalist/organist Sue Pedrazzi to settle […]

As well as releasing some of the finest rock, punk, heavy metal, and psych music around, the Tee Pee Records Annex is an ambitious archival project from New York’s legendary underground label. “The Annex is a home for releases we think are exceptional but sit slightly outside our usual mission for the label,” explains founder, Kenny Sehgal. “This could mean artists or bands that don’t tour or play live; it could be digital-only releases, co-releases with other labels, side projects, lost classics, local NYC bands and self-releases. In short, awesome odds ‘n’ sods.” To date, the project has worked with the likes of Nick Saloman, Simeon Coxe, Osgood Slaughter, Mos Generator and many more and continues this month with the official digital release of not one, but two albums by cult British power-trio, Alchemysts. Formed in Southwest England in 1990 by Bridgwater-based guitarist Paul Simmons, bassist Jon Guard and drummer, Mat Love, Alchemysts are a cruelly overlooked yet towering hard psych triumvirate, carved from the Oaks of Avalon. “Creativity is a wonderful thing,” explains Love, when asked about his time with the band. “To create something out of thin air, be that art, literature, or music is a real gift and something that is vital for the soul. We’re extremely happy that with the help of Tee Pee Records and the wonderful Bevis Frond, we’re finally able to get revive these records for release on digital platforms.” Originally issued on Behemoth Records in 1996, […]
