Little Angels are officially back! Their brand-new ‘Big Bad & Back‘ EP is out today (6th November) (review here), marking the band’s first new music in 32 years, ahead of their highly anticipated UK and Ireland tour, which kicks off next week.
The band have also released a six-minute trailer for an exclusive, hour-long documentary, taking fans behind the scenes and inside the studio as they made the new EP.
The band say: “So happy the EP is finally out! It felt great in the room making this record – so when the needle hits the wax, we hope you all share in the joy… it’s good to be back… Let’s Rock!”
What began as a reunion tour was never intended to result in new music. But with tickets flying out and the band back together rehearsing, writing and jamming, the creative spark was quickly reignited. Toby Jepson began working on new ideas, and before long the band realised, they still had something to say.
Determined to capture the spirit of their classic recordings, they returned to the studio to play together live, allowing the songs and the chemistry between them to shape the sound. Rather than trying to recreate their youth, the five-piece found themselves reflecting on their journey, who they are today and what it means to come home.
The response to ‘Big Bad & Back‘ has been hugely positive with press with Entertainment Focus declaring: “This isn’t simply a nostalgic reflection on where they’ve come from; it’s a celebration of the people they’ve become. Quite simply, it’s as good as anything they’ve ever written.”
The Rock Pit agrees, praising the band’s ability to move forward without losing what made them special, “They’ve acknowledged their past without becoming trapped by it. They’ve embraced the sound that made them great without simply recycling old ideas. And perhaps most importantly, they’ve made a record that sounds like five musicians genuinely enjoying being in a band together again.”
Meanwhile, Rockposer describes the five tracks as “five cracking songs brimming with personality, energy and irresistible hooks”, adding: “Rather than attempting to recapture their youth, Little Angels have rediscovered the musical magic that made them special.”
