Review: Wailing Banshees With Rattlesnakes, Moskito & Heartstrung

Those fine chaps at Upstaged put together a four band bill at what is a rather splendid venue, namely The Drill in Lincoln.

I’m going to be honest and say that the first two bands of the evening, Heartstrung & Moskito are not my cup of tea, never got the whole growley thing or some of the weird & wonderful genres that get thrown about. No disrespect to the two bands, they had an appreciative audience and did what it is they do. Do check them out on the interweb, they might be your thing.

Rattlesnakes I’d only seen a few Saturday’s ago at Maid Of Stone Festival. It’a like jumping into a time machine and travelling back to those heady days of the mid 80’s. And they do it so well. Lead singer Rowena Neale, replendent in a pair of what looked like Blackie Lawless’ boots delivered a solid performance, aided by Jacob Shingler and Josh Brown on guitars, Elliott Dryden on bass duties and Nathan Gratton on drums. Well worth a watch if you get the chance.

Headliners Wailing Banshee are another band I’d already seen this year, when they graced the tent at Upstage‘s Call Of The Wild Festival. I must say it was good t osee them on a bigger stage, they certainly gave the impression that they felt very much at home there.

Again another solid performance, and it’s very encouraging to see these young bands getting their collective teeth set on doing what they love and supplying us with live music.
