Japanese power metal vocalist Saeko Kitamae returns with her new single ‘Seek the Light (Reimagined)‘, available now on all digital platforms. The track is the first release from her upcoming EP ‘Back To Life‘, set for release on July 17th.

Originally written in the early stages of her career, ‘Seek the Light‘ has been revisited and reshaped with a clear intention: keep the identity of the song intact while pushing it further in terms of sound and impact. The new version doesn’t try to replace the original, it builds on it, bringing out details and weight that weren’t there before.
The single features Saeko’s current international line-up: Guido Benedetti (Trick Or Treat) on guitars, Alessandro Sala (Rhapsody Of Fire) on bass and Michael Ehré (Gamma Ray, The Unity) on drums. Their contribution gives the track a heavier and more defined sound, without losing the melodic core that has always been part of Saeko’s identity.
‘Seek the Light (Reimagined)‘ opens the path to ‘Back To Life‘, an EP that revisits songs written across different moments of Saeko’s life, including material that dates back to before her official debut. Rather than treating them as legacy tracks, the goal was to bring them into the present with a consistent sound and a stronger musical direction.
The title ‘Back To Life‘ reflects both a creative restart and a personal one, following a period that forced Saeko to step away and reassess due to injury, surgery and other circumstances. That experience is part of what shaped the way these songs have been approached today.
In support of the new material, Saeko will return to the stage with exclusive shows in Japan under the banner ‘Saeko Live In Japan 2026‘, offering fans a first look at the new material.

Saeko first gained international recognition in the early 2000s after moving from Japan to Germany to pursue her career. In 2004 she toured Europe with Doro Pesch, and in 2005 she became the first Asian female artist to perform at Wacken Open Air. Her debut album Above Heaven Below Heaven marked the beginning of her international path, connecting different musical backgrounds into a sound that remains identifiable today.
With ‘Seek the Light (Reimagined)‘, Saeko doesn’t look back for nostalgia, she uses her past as a starting point to move forward, with a clearer and stronger direction.
