Review: Buckcherry / Michael Monroe, Support Rubikon
Rock City, Nottingham (March 6tth, 2026)

Friday night, three bands, a decent size crowd, let proceedings commence!
I’ll be honest and say that I’d not heard of Rubikon before, a band I learnt hail from Boston in the US of A. Whilst I’m being honest, They weren’t my cup of tea, but they went down well with the crowd, and that’s the bit that counts.
Michael Monroe, what can you say about Mr. Monroe? A showman, a great frontman, a bit of a legend. Regardless whether he’s your thing or not, you can’t really disagree with any of those descriptions.
Whether it’s climbing the speaker stack, doing the splits, or embracing the crowd up close at the barrier. Monroe entertains, he and his band of merry men delivering what the crowd wanted. No short changing, delivering 14 songs over the course of the set, finishing of course with ‘Up Around the Bend‘.
And then it was the turn of Buckcherry, the band who I’ve been waiting a while to see. Led by frontman Josh Todd, the band delivered a heafty slab of American hard rock, a band rejuvenated by the release last year of ‘Roar Like Thunder‘. The crowd fed off the swagger and delivery of the 12 songs on their setlist. For me, it was worth the wait!
