On Friday 11th July, Canadian roots, rock, and soul band Bywater Call will release ‘Love The One You’re With‘, their second single of 2025 and second official live release.

‘Love The One You’re With‘ is a dynamic, extended cover of the beloved Stephen Stills tune and a favourite of Bywater Call concert goers. The live take comes from one of the band’s two sold-out shows at the historic Rivoli in Toronto, Canada in December 2024.
“This song a great representation of our live show and the chemistry between all the band members,” says lead singer Meghan Parnell. “You really get to hear the power of the vocal and then the craftsmanship of the instrumentalists as I step away from the mic and really let them do their thing. No live version of this song is the same. Every time we perform it, it’s a journey.”
‘Sunshine‘ is Bywater Call’s first live album. It features a mix of newly released music, including the cover of Stephen Stills’ ‘Love The One You’re With‘ and the funky new original title-track ‘Sunshine‘ (previously released as a single in May 2025), plus fan favourites ‘As If‘, ‘Sign of Peace‘, and ‘Everybody Knows‘ from 2024’s ‘Shepherd‘ album (review here), and ‘Bring Me Down‘ taken from their 2019 self-titled debut album. The highly anticipated live album is an epic, energetic revelation for the uninitiated, and perfect snapshot as to why Bywater Call are winning new fans across the globe.
Songs feature extended jams, fiery solos, and haunting introductions from shows in Toronto, Canada, Woodstock, New York, USA and Newbury, UK.
The live album features the extraordinary talents of Dave Barnes (guitar, slide), Mike Meusel (bass), Bruce McCarthy (drums), John Kervin (keyboards), Julian Nalli (sax), and Stephen Dyte (trumpet). Together, the band command the innate ability to improvise, innovate and play off each other, while highlighting the gritty, dynamic, and emotive vocals of lead singer Meghan Parnell. It is a true reflection of the heart and sweat poured out on stage every night.
The live album was recorded and mixed by drummer Bruce McCarthy and mastered by Kristian Montano (Montano Mastering).

In their August 2024 issue, Classic Rock Magazine made Bywater Call’s 2024 album ‘Shepherd‘ their “Blues Album of the Month”, and said it was “an inventive and uncommonly catchy record”, and added, “the sense of a band on the brink is unmistakable”. The album was also selected as the “Top Blues Album of the Year” in the magazine’s year-end round-up.

About Bywater Call
Meghan Parnell (vocals) and Dave Barnes (guitar) are the founding members of Bywater Call, a powerhouse seven-piece Southern soul, roots rock band from Toronto, Canada. The band also features Bruce McCarthy (drums), Mike Meusel (bass), John Kervin (keyboards), Stephen Dyte (trumpet), and Julian Nalli (tenor sax).
Bywater Call has received multiple Independent Blues and Maple Blues Award nominations including Entertainer, Electric Act and Best Female Vocalist for the 2024 Awards Season. They have toured extensively in Europe where shows have been praised by Dutch, German, and UK media, with references to Meghan as one of the best female voices in blues and roots today.
In August 2023, the band participated in Joe Bonamassa’s third Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea Mediterranean Cruise alongside headliners Blackberry Smoke and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. They were invited to perform at the All-Star Jam on the mainstage with Bonamassa himself. Guitarist Dave Barnes was also asked to join legendary blues artist Jimmy Vivino (Conan O’Brien’s Basic Cable Band) on stage.
Bywater Call have commanded festival stages in Canada and around the world, often referred to as the “find of the fest”. In May of 2023, they opened for Canadian Award-winning band Whitehorse at the inaugural Smokestack Music Festival in Hamilton, Ontario. In July, Meghan joined renowned pedal-steel guitarist Robert Randolph on stage at his request, at the Briggs Farm Festival in Nescopeck, PA.
On October 24, 2023, Bywater performed a live stream performance on the German TV show and festival Rockpalast.
In 2023, the band played a total of 96 shows in 10 countries, 89 Cities, 19 US States and 3 Canadian Provinces. This is not including a month-long duo tour in Europe and the UK where Meghan and Dave opened for Southern California rockers Robert Jon & The Wreck, who have recently partnered with Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records.
