Review: DeWolff, Support Silveroller
Rescue Rooms (April 15th 2025)

A Tuesday evening trip over to Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms for Silveroller and DeWolff.
I was looking forward to seeing Silveroller, fellow tog Paul Saripo had the opportunity to photograph them earlier in the month, when they supported The Karma Effect. Tonight was my chance.
Channeling their inner 70’s, it made me feel bloody old when you consider that none of the band were born back then, the band launched into a thoroughly entertaining six song set, singer the Rev. Jonnie Hodson, a born frontman, all the moves, and the chops too for that matter.
With Boston (USA not Lincolnshire) guitarist Kenny Tashjy, resplendant in white flares, his guitar plugged into the authentic 70’s era curly cable, playing without overplaying, Lucas Tadini tinkling the ivories and kicking things off with a theremin no less, and the engine room of Joe Major – drums and Dylan Evans – bass, we were certainly entertained. Hopefully I’ll catch them again in the near future.
Setlist:
- Other Side
- Trouble Follows Me
- Nobody’s Business
- Black Crow
- Come On, Come In
- Hold
This was my second time seeing DeWolff, the last time was also at the Rescue Rooms. I’ve been a fan since their debut, enjoying the band’s take on the whole recording process, where analogue is king! Whilst I love the albums, live, DeWolff take matters to another level.
If you were only listening, you’d think there were more musicians onstage. Brothers Pablo van de Poel (guitar/vocals) and Luka van de Poel (drums/vocals), alongside Robin Piso (Hammond/Wurlitzer) create a huge soundscape, this is not a sound you can ignore in any way, it really is all enveloping.
With a setlist of nine songs, the encore I remembered from last time, all 22 minutes of it!
Shortchanged we certainly weren’t, the crowd and I thoroughly enjoying every minute of their set. I know it’s a bit of a review cliché, but when I say if you get the chance to see them, then grab it, I damn well mean it. Fabulous!
Setlist:
- Night Train
- In Love
- Natural Woman
- Out On The Town
- Live Like You
- Treasure City MC
- Restless Man
- Tired Of Loving You
- Rosita
