‘Free Me‘ is the final single from Red Giant’s eponymous debut album and is a powerful, bitter cry for help. It is a heartfelt plea from a soul in torment crying out to be rescued because their own attempts at escape from their pit of despair have proved futile.

The start/stop nature of the song with its crashing chords, high note riffs and strong vocals empathise with the intensity of emotion felt by a person trapped in this enveloping hell.  The quiet ending of the song is in stark contrast to what has come and gone before. Has the prisoner been rescued or have they just resigned themselves to their fate?  

This powerful song gives voice to feelings that can be shared by so many people in similar situations of stress and trauma. Perhaps many more than we realise.
