Paul Di’Anno, the iconic former frontman of Iron Maiden, has just released a new single ‘Wrathchild’ from his album, ‘The Book of The Beast‘, out September 27 via Conquest Music.
In a thrilling surprise for fans, Di’Anno has reworked the Iron Maiden classic ‘Wrathchild‘, injecting it with a dark, fresh twist. The revamped version features Paul duetting alongside ZP Theart (Dragonforce).
“I’m loving this version of ‘Wrathchild‘ and working on the vocals with ZP Theart really brought a lot of new energy into the song” says Di’Anno
“‘Wrathchild‘ is still in the set list at all my live shows. I love singing it and the fans still go crazy for it every night
As well as having ZP from Dragonforce/Skid Row joining me on vocals, I brought in Russell Gilbrook from Uriah Heep on drums and Cliff Evans from Tank on guitar. What a band”
Paul’s upcoming album, ‘The Book of The Beast‘, is a deeply personal project and the first ‘Best Of’ his post Maiden career, with some special added tracks. Di’Anno says “I’ve handpicked 17 songs that span my career and really mean a lot to me. Several of these songs are from my albums that never really got much promotion at the time when they were released so they’ve now been re-mastered and given a new lease of life”
Born in Chingford, East London, Paul Di’Anno remains one of the most colourful and controversial figures in heavy metal. As the voice behind Iron Maiden from 1978 to 1981, Appearing on the albums ‘Iron Maiden’ and ‘Killers’, Paul co-wrote several of Maiden’s defining early moments His aggressive vocal style and commanding stage presence brought them far more of a raw, punky edge than was present on subsequent records. For that reason, Maiden’s first two albums still inspire strong reactions.
Despite facing significant health challenges over the past eight years that side-lined his career, Di’Anno has made an extraordinary comeback. His resilience and passion have culminated in this new release, which promises to reignite excitement among metal fans worldwide.
The vinyl double album (available in Blood Red, Virgin White and Cold Steel coloured vinyl) and 2-disc CD/DVD include five previously unreleased tracks, along with a carefully curated collection of songs that distils many of the best moments from Di’Anno’s fascinating and formidable career. The CD/DVD also includes rare live, promotional, and acoustic video footage.
This version of ‘Wrathchild‘ is just a taster for some of the gems Paul has included in ‘The Book of The Beast‘ which is released on September 27th by Conquest Music.
