It’s Swifties versus Welsh Rock 20 years in the making in this week’s chart battle: Scarlet Rebels Land #3 in UK Midweek Album Charts with ‘Where The Colours Meet‘.

Scarlet Rebels have just released their new album ‘Where The Colours Meet’, OUT NOW across all platforms via Earache Records. In a stunning achievement, the band’s record has secured the #3 spot in the UK Midweek Album Charts, standing proudly among some of the biggest names in the industry.

This is more than just a chart position, it’s a true “David vs Goliath” story. Scarlet Rebels, an independent rock band, are going head-to-head with industry titans, proving that passion and fan support can take on the giants. The band is calling on their dedicated fanbase to rally behind them and help secure another Top 10 hit, following the success of their previous album ‘See Through Blue‘ (which peaked at #7).

Frontman Wayne Doyle shared his excitement, saying, “We’re shocked. Seeing us sat in the middle of these giants of the music industry like Post Malone, Taylor Swift and Charli XCX. It shows the power and the support of the rock fans in the UK and how our Rebel Club have banded behind us and stood tall for us once again. We’re so appreciative of it! But we need everyone to continue that push by sharing and encouraging their friends to order a copy of what we feel is our best ever record.”

At moments like these, the band can’t help but reflect on their incredible journey – one defined by 20 years of near-misses, dating back to their early days as V0id. Their story is a testament to resilience in the face of lost opportunities. Take 2006, for example, when they travelled to Austin, TX, for SXSW. Wayne’s phone SIM stopped working, and by the time they returned to the UK, they discovered they’d missed several calls from BBC Radio, who had been eager to feature them after catching wind of their performance. That chance was gone, just like that.
Another turning point came when they were asked to change their image, cut their hair, and remix their songs to be marketed as the next Busted. Wayne stood his ground and refused, only to find out weeks later, when he went back to ask about the songs being remixed, that they’d moved on – they’d heard that they’d auditioned musicians and McFly was born.

Then, there was the release of their second album, ‘Zer0‘, which caught the attention of BBC Wales and Stuart Cable, the original drummer of Stereophonics. Cable had started playing their music on his show and was set to mentor them, even planning an acoustic session. Tragically, he passed away just days before the session, leaving another chapter of what might have been.

These near-misses have shaped Welsh rockers Scarlet Rebels, fuelling their drive and determination. Now, with ‘Where The Colours Meet‘, and also following on from the chart victory of their last album, they’re finally seeing the success they’ve been working towards for two decades. It’s not often that the rock community get a chance to take on Taylor Swift in the charts, but Scarlet Rebels are giving rockers the chance to show the UK what they’re made of against the Swifties.
