Review: Chantel McGregor / The Cinelli Brothers

This evening’s entertainment was a double-header of Chantel McGregor and The Cinelli Brothers, both playing full sets!
I’ve seen Chantel a few times, and you can’t but enjoy not only her sublime guitar skills, but her audience interaction and stage chats just make you warm to her, which in turn makes any of her gigs feel like an intimate gig for chums.
I do feel her playing doesn’t get recognised as it should, as her playing looks effortless and get her skill set is just fantastic. Those of you who are already fans know exactly what I mean. Those of you unfamiliar, have a listen to her albums and then go see her live and be gobsmacked how those songs take on a new life.

The Cinelli Brothers were new to me, although I’d been told they were well worth seeing. Where do I start? I guess by saying wow! The Cinelli Brothers take on Texan border blues is fantastic, you can’t help but become enveloped in the band’s music. They are also incredibly annoying? Why may you ask? Well, they’re too damn talented, when you have musicians who can just swop from one instrument to another, from harmonica to guitar, drums to bass and vice versa etc. Oh to have a fraction of that talent.
Again, yet another band I’d highly recommend you check out.
