Review: NWOCR – New Wave Of Classic Rock Volume 2
RPM Records (September 22nd, 2023)
Reviewer: Paul Nicholls
Sample Albums…love ’em or hate ’em, they can be a valuable introduction to bands’ new releases you may not hear anywhere else. They can also expose you to bands you would stand little chance of hearing at all. My first introduction to Ten and Nation came from such a CD. Yes in the past “cover ” CD’s often filled this need, but in today’s market they have become few and far between .
So, what do we have here?
What we have is 40 odd tracks by bands both familiar and, to me, totally unknown .. now that may be because I’m more out of the loop than I believed! However, it’s reassuring to hear the offerings on this release. Not once does the quality drop, no matter who the artist is. Song construction, performance and production quality is really second to none.
It would be criminally unfair to single out any particular band, as they all are equally as good. No, you might not like every song here, but there truly IS something for everyone, and for once it does exactly what it says on the tin. It highlights this new wave of classic rock that we all love and is the fresh breath of life into this genre we revere.
Should you pay out your hard earned for this? Well I would! Truly, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
A reliable source ( yeah, ok Farcebook) tells me there are even live shows by the same organisation, so be popping along to those too should you have a spare evening.
To coin a phrase … NWORC? Not Arf pop pickers!
