Review: Firevolt 2023 (Sunday)

Review: Firevolt 2023

Sunday August 13th, 2023

Reviewer/Photographer: Dan Mann

I’d heard good things from chums about Firevolt, the feedback from last year was all positive, so I was looking forward to experiencing it myself. Alas I could only make the Sunday, but what a day it was! The layout is quite unique, set as it is in a country park. The sight of a Big Top tent set up in a field might give newcomers one impression of what to expect.

But that’s just one of the stages, a big stage at that! Up the hill is the main ‘hub’, with a converted barn, that description doesn’t do it justice, with it consisting of a stage as well as a bar, a seating area and somewhere for merch. Most of it under cover. The rest of the ‘hub’ were a double decker bus bar, various stalls and food vendors and proper toilets.

With musical proceedings being kicked off by a band I’d not heard of, The Golden Leaves, who hail from Norway, and who soon got the crowd motivated, the day was filled with excellent music, a fantastic vibe, plus it’s always lovely meeting up with chums and acquittances.

All I can say to sum up is roll on 2024’s Firevolt and next time I will certainly make sure I’m there for all three days. Keep an eye on Firevolt‘s website and Facebook page for news and tickets for 2024.
