Anthemic hard rock act, Austin Gold have released a new video for their recent single ‘Cut & Run‘.
‘Cut & Run‘ is the 3rd single from their album, ‘Those City Lights‘ (review here) released via TMR Rock Records late last year.
The video was shot at their sold out hometown album launch show in Peterborough (photos here) and produced/directed by Jay Hillyer Films. It was long time drummer Chris Ogden’s last show before stepping down. The band has now welcomed James Pepper into the hot seat.
‘Those City Lights‘ charted at #10 Official UK Indie Breakers Charts and at #23 of the Official UK Rock Charts.
‘Those City Lights‘ is their third studio album release, following on from their debut ‘Before Dark Clouds’ (2017) and the acclaimed self-titled mini-album ‘Austin Gold’ (2019). It is their first release on the recently formed label TMR Rock Records.
Following the two strong studio releases, tours with King King and Gun and a main stage appearance at the last Ramblin’ Man Festival, Austin Gold were causing a stir. Then Covid frakked the world but the guys remained agile and adapted and hunkered down to write and record, ‘Those City Lights‘.
Main man, David James Smith, spoke about new single, “I love its uncluttered production … it’s pretty much a single guitar line through a variety of amps and stomps allowing the mix of drums, bass and keys to bring the dynamics.
Lyrically, it features a main thread of escapism. It’s a tale urging a companion to stick it to the man and head off in a cloud of tyre smoke. Hear the lyrics, ‘’Take your chances, Cut & Run‘’ and you can get a sense of its urgency. It’s a theme that can be found throughout the album.”
The Peterborough band have recently played Planet Rock Winter’s End in February, and are lined up for Steelhouse Festival in July.
Line-up:
David James Smith (vocals & guitar)
Lee Churchill (bass)
Adam Leon (keyboards)
James Pepper (drums)
