Lance Lopez Announces Crowdfunder For New Album

Lance Lopez has been on a slow, steady climb up the mountain of blues rock guitar heavyweights for the last decade. Lance has a voice that lets you know he’s walked the walk and his smoky tenor has grown more gravely and passionate with the passing years and has announced a crowdfunder for his new album. “We’ve been working on some pretty great songs and can’t wait to get back on the road.” Going on to talk about the musicians on the album, “We’ve got an all star lineup right here! Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Eric Clapton, Average White Band), Gregg Bissonette ( Ringo Starr), Herman Matthews (Tower of Power, Kenny Loggins, Tom Jones), Buck Johnson (Aerosmith, Hollywood Vampires), Wes Little (Robben Ford) have all lent their hands and I’m super excited to work with them all. And, there’s all the cool perks that good folk can get and be personally involved in getting this record out there.

A professional musician since the age of 14 when he began playing local bars in and around the New Orleans, Louisiana area, at 17 he was hired by soul great Johnnie Taylor, with whom he toured. By 18 he was hired as the band leader of blues legend Lucky Peterson’s band, spending three years touring throughout the world. He struck up a close friendship with the larger than life drummer Buddy Miles, subsequently becoming the guitarist for The Buddy Miles Express for a time. The former Band Of Gypsys legend would go on to mentor Lopez, leading to him co producing his debut album ‘First Things First‘, which was released independently.

Quickly becoming a modern blues legend, the Texas USA born axe slinger lived the life every day since, and you can feel every mile of the road in each note he plays. For the last 3 decades he’s toured extensively all over North America, throughout Europe, the UK, and as far east as India and Jakarta, Indonesia. Lopez has opened for and toured with legendary icons such as B.B. King, Buddy Guy, ZZ Top, Rod Stewart, Whitesnake and many others. The path to becoming a blues guitar legend is not an easy road, even with mentors and friends in Billy Gibbons and Johnny Winter, the road is long and fraught with the necessity of the literally thousands of clubs, endless nights, low wages, and long travels, all of which lead to the many temptations that make for distractions to get one through the day.

2014 saw Lopez join blues rock supergroup, Supersonic Blues Machine, as lead vocalist and guitarist for the release of two critically acclaimed albums which featured ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Toto’s Steve Lukather, Robben Ford, Walter Trout, Eric Gales and many other notable guitarists.

Lopez was mentored by the best, and along with the priceless teachings in the musical life also came hard lessons in drinking, drugs, late nights, the ravages of road food and that side of the life that has broken so many.

Going on to release a further 6 albums, with the last offering ‘Tell The Truth’ produced by Fabrizio Grossi (Steve Vai, Glenn Hughes, Eric Gales) he then took time out to relocate to Nashville Tennessee, confront his demons, endeavour through adversity and gain sobriety.

With the grace of good faith, friends, and family, Lopez has seen it through to a healthier, happier side. After a hiatus, he is back with a new power trio, poised and ready to begin touring and working on a new studio album with renowned LA producer/songwriter Joey Sykes.

Lance is highly thought of as a “guitarists guitarist” whilst having a wider appeal to his grit laden and life telling blues rock, the southern maverick is widely considered to be one of greatest guitarists that Texas has ever produced. Lance will release his exciting new single early 2022, followed by the new album later in the year.
