It’s an incredible accomplishment when a rock band has been successful enough to reach the 25-year mark since the release of their first album.
And this year, raunchy southern rockers Jackyl have accomplished this feat, and are celebrating with an appropriately-titled compilation, ’25’ which will be released on July 28 via Mighty Loud Records.

The 18-track set (which can be preordered via the band’s official site, ( features such Jackyl radio hits as ‘Down on Me‘, ‘The Lumberjack‘, ‘Push Comes to Shove‘ and ‘Favorite Sin‘ as well as two previously unreleased tracks – a live rendition of ‘Redneck Punk‘ as well as a cover of Black Oak Arkansas’ ‘Hot and Nasty‘.

At the time we first hit the scene, we were told by quite a few interviewers and fans that we sounded like a cross between Black Oak Arkansas and AC/DC,” explains Jackyl. “While we was very familiar with AC/DC, we were not with BOA. We went back and listened, and were blown away – so much so, that we recorded a cover of one of their most kick ass tunes, ‘Hot and Nasty,’ which is now finally getting its release on this comp.

First bursting upon the scene with their self-titled, platinum-certified debut album in 1992, Jackyl has made a name for themselves as a killer live band that delivers night after night, and has continued to offer up good old fashioned blues boogie over the years, as evidenced on such subsequent albums as 1994’s gold-certified ‘Push Comes to Shove’ all the way to their most recent release, 2016’s ‘Rowyco’.

With this compilation, we are celebrating 25 years of Jackyl rock n’ roll – the fundamentals of rock n roll,” adds Jesse. “And beware – we are not slowing down anytime soon.

Broken Chords

The Rock don’t stop for Broken Chords. After smashing Hard Rock Hell Ibiza and Brighton’s Great Escape Festival with their high-octane, power-infused brand of hard rock riff anthems, these three lads are getting their axes ready for a set of UK tour dates with some epic contemporaries.

October 2014 sees Broken Chords head out with guitar legend Bernie Torme – whose career includes playing with Ozzy Osbourne and Ian Gillan. After a massively successful pledge music campaign to fund a new album, Bernie Torme is hitting up the UK with Broken Chords on board.

After that, it just keeps going. The band then join acclaimed Australian classic rockers Electric Mary, back in the UK as the first leg of a European tour.

Alongside slaying audiences, Broken Chords will be promoting a new album. Self titled and due for release in the autumn, the record was produced by Gez Walton (Skindred, Blackstorm, The King Blues). Lead single ‘Get Some’ was released in June – it’s Hammond-infused British rock at its riffiest and heaviest, referencing the world-dominating sounds of Led Zeppelin and Cream while also displaying a contemporary punkish attitude.  It’s classic rock with a twist – classic rock for right now. The tracks video features the stunning tattoo models Cervena Fox and Shelly D’Inferno, perfectly accompanying the bands sexy hard rock sound and attitude.

The album features songs originally recorded by some of Shepherd’s heroes such as B.B. King, Albert King, Bo Diddley, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, Lee Dorsey and many other icons of the Blues. He reached deep into their catalogues and chose songs that inspired him when he was learning to play the guitar.  “The end result is a great recording that I believe pays homage to the spirit of the original music,” says Shepherd, “At the same time, it shows our appreciation for the musicians and genre that have inspired us to make music for decades.”

These are exciting times for rock and metal fans in the UK. The last few years have seen a huge explosion of young bands from every corner of the country, each with their own distinctive sound born from a devotion to both the heaviest and best music of the past and the freshness and vitality that always emerges when a musical movement embarks on a major step along its evolutionary path. British heavy music is basking in the blaze of a new golden age. And that’s where Sondura come in….

Formed by frontman Tom Watson and his younger brother, guitarist Jack, Sondura have the songs, the sound and the dedication to become the next big British rock band. Having been through a couple of bass players, a settled line-up eventually came together and they found their true direction –  propelled along furiously by the air-tight rhythm section of bassist Steve Dillon and drummer Fred Green – before adding second guitarist Luke Genders in late 2012.

The quintet have struck upon a uniquely powerful and accessible signature sound that combines the crushing, belligerent sonic might of ‘Black Album’-era Metallica with the incisive radio-friendly sensibilities of Foo Fighters, Nickelback or Alter Bridge and the edgy verve of Hundred Reasons; a fresh and invigorating collision of styles that deserves to propel Sondura towards rock stardom.

Ultimately, for Sondura – the name means ‘hard sound’ – it’s all about the power of the song. As showcased on their debut album, Live Before You Die, the band had already developed an astute grasp of the melodic candour and dynamic oomph required to send shivers of recognition down the spine. An impressive statement of intent, it is nevertheless bettered by their forthcoming new opus, Undivided, which will be released in early 2014. Commencing with the pure rush of exhilaration that is the brand new single We’re Here Now [already showcased by Classic Rock magazine on their recent Unleashed – Hottest New Bands In Britain cover mount CD], there is a dark, fluid swagger to its contents that can be heard in the album’s many other highlights, including the brash and confident You Remain, the anthem-in-waiting Another Bottle Down and the insanely catchy Suffocating.

Sondura will be touring in support of the release of We’re Here Now, with the following shows confirmed thus far:
11.10.13    SHEFFIELD  Corporation
12.12.13    ANDOVER  George
