Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics proudly unveil the powerful new video for ‘Dancin’ Down Below‘ and with its riotous hooks it will impress.

Dancin’ Down Below  is taken from their recently released debut album ‘The Man With Stars On His KneesThe band will showcase this dynamic debut at festivals through-out the UK this summer including: Download Festival, Wildfire Festival and Ramblin’ Man Fair.

The Man With Stars On His Knees‘ is informed by the sharp musical intelligence of Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics. “A lot of thought went into making an album that made sense. For a few years, I was so confused, tense and lost that I had more ammunition than I had ever had before to write lyrics and melodies that took me through the realms of anger, upset, uprising and all manner of feelings that probably manifested under a blanket of pressure and time.

After leaving Heaven’s Basement, Buchanan formed The Cult Classics with sibling Laurie Buchanan on guitar, Tom McCarthy (guitar), Chris Guyatt (bass), and Kev Hickman (drums), as he  “wanted to be true to the art in [his] mind, and the sound“, “I’m proud to fly the flag for something a little different.

Recorded at Plus11 Studio with long-term friend and producer James Curtis-Thomas, the resulting dynamic and fulfilling ‘The Man With Stars On His Knees‘ comes from “doing what musicians do best. Creating.

Review: Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics – The Man With Stars On His Knees

May 2016

Reviewer: Dan Mann

After leaving Heaven’s Basement, Aaron Buchanan wasted no time in putting together a stellar group of fellow musicians, namely The Cult Classics. What we have here is the first fruits of the collaboration, namely the band’s debut album ‘The Man With Stars On His Knees‘.

If I was only allowed to use one word to review / describe this release, it would without doubt be ‘energetic’. From the off, you are dragged kicking and screaming into a wall of sound. Not a shoutry / screamy wall, but a high octane fueled powerhouse, the bass reaching down and making your furniture vibrate! It just made me turn it up even more and to hell with the neighbors!

There are a multitude of influences on the album, each blending seamlessly into the next, giving you what is without doubt an absolute monster of a release.

Stand out tracks for me, ‘Dancin’ Down Below‘, ‘A God Is No Friend‘ & ‘Morals‘.

Looking forward to catching the band out on the road this Summer when they’ll be airing this material live. You can see them on the following dates –

June

3rd Camden Rocks Festival.

11th Download Festival.

25th Wildfire Festival.

July

29th Ramblin’ Man Fair.

“‘The Man With Stars On His Knees‘ is coming out very soon, and a huge influence on the record came from 90’s rock. Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, The Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam amongst others all played their part in influencing this record alongside a band that had killer grooves and some top-class songs; Stone Temple Pilots. Here’s a tip of the hat in their direction recorded at Plus 11 Recording Studio  long live the legacy of Scott Weilland [1967 – 2015] – This is Creep from the 1992 “Core” album. Inspired by the MTV sessions.“ – Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics

Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics unveil the video for their intensely honest and dynamic debut single,All The Things You’ve Said And Done‘, in celebration of their forthcoming tour with InMe.

‘All The Things You’ve Said And Done‘ is a hard, angry, kick in the face and the first song Aaron wrote for the forthcoming album ‘The Man With Stars On His Knees‘.

Bristling with conviction, the lyrically purposeful and autobiographical ‘All The Things You’ve Said And Done‘ deals with “making peace with yourself. Sometimes you have to be mean and say things that other people tell you that you shouldn’t say to help heal and move on with life” explains frontman Aaron Buchanan.

After leaving Heaven’s Basement, Aaron formed The Cult Classics with his sister Laurie Buchanan on guitar, Tom McCarthy (guitar) Chris Guyatt (bass) and Kev Hickman (drums), as he  “wanted to be true to the art in my mind, and the sound I echo is the sound I want to be heard in this moment right now. I’m proud to fly the flag for something a little different.”

The single is released to coincide with the bands first ever tour as special guests to InMe on their 20th Anniversary tour. Starting at the Key Club in Leeds on October 17th and finishing at Patterns in Brighton on 28th, the eleven shows include London’s Tufnell Park Dome on Saturday 22nd.

“My sister and I have followed InME for over ten years and they’re a band we hold close to our hearts, especially Dave – that guy is an unsung hero of riff’s, melodies, lyrics and quirks. We love the band, and we’re looking forward to watching their show each night.” Aaron enthuses “As a band, this is our first tour, but it’s a great starting point, and having spent months with the band rehearsing and working with our engineer to assure a quality show that is nothing but the best it can be, I hope to give the audience a show they’d expect from a former member of HB.”
