Richie Owens, the Nashville-based singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist known for fusing deep country roots with rock and punk grit, will embark across the Atlantic this August for a run of UK tour dates with fellow roots musicians Bob Ocker & Joe Sharp. Deemed the The UK Pub Crawl, this trek marks Owens‘ return to the UK stage circuit, spanning historic pubs across Yorkshire, Oxfordshire and beyond.
Bandleader Richie says, “I’ve been blessed to perform across the UK for over 35 years, but Smoky Mountain DNA has given those journeys a whole new meaning. Every show is now a chance to celebrate the shared heritage, music, and stories that connect Britain and Appalachia. I’m excited to bring this new chapter of that story to audiences across the UK.”
This August 11th through 18, performing as a trio, Richie, Bob, and Joe,. will bring the front porch of Appalachian folklore to European audiences. With songs, stories, and traditions shared through intimate acoustic performances, they’re celebrating the recent release of Appalachia: Ballads, Bloodlines & the Long Journey Home, the first book + music offering in a series (available here), while helping keep the tradition of live music in historic pubs alive for the next generation. About Richie Owens:
Richie Owens is a bandleader, record producer, studio engineer, musician, and instrument designer known for a career built on fusing deep-rooted country tradition with rock and punk innovation. Born in 1960 into a musical family with roots running from Northern Wales to East Tennessee and into Nashville, Owens is the son of Louis Owens, a singer-songwriter and producer who helped launch the career of his niece, Dolly Parton. Coming of age in the 1970s, Owens embraced the punk spirit alongside his country roots, becoming a founding figure of the Nashville punk and alternative rock scene with his bands The Resistors and The Movement, his self-built studio The Refuge, and his label Neo Records. Over the following decades, he has worked with artists including The Georgia Satellites, Social Distortion, Richard Lloyd, The Kentucky Headhunters, Michael Stipe, and Vince Gill. Owens has also produced several Dolly Parton albums, including Hungry Again (1998), Precious Memories (1999), and Smoky Mountain DNA (2024), and continues to back her for live appearances.
