When Rivers Meet Release Fifth Studio Album ‘Rhythm Rust & Static’

Award-winning UK duo When Rivers Meet release their fifth studio album ‘Rhythm Rust & Static‘, out now across all major platforms.

Known for their distinctive blend of alternative rock and gritty blues, When Rivers Meet continue to push against genre limits. One of a small number of fully independent UK acts to achieve two Official UK Top 10 albums, the duo has built a reputation for defying expectation and carving their own path within the music industry.

Following 2025’s ‘Addicted To You’ (review here), underpinned by a more expansive and polished production style’ the band found themselves drawn in a different direction for this new record. ‘Rhythm Rust & Static‘ embraces a more stripped-back, immediate feel, capturing the energy and rawness of early recordings that inspired Grace and Aaron Bond growing up, where imperfection and atmosphere sit at the heart of the sound.

The result is an album that leans into instinct and authenticity, shaped by a desire to return to something more direct and unfiltered. The release has already drawn strong critical response, with Music-News awarding the album 5/5 saying “It will polarize listeners, this is not easy listening. But it is magnificent. Ragged and glorious. Absolutely essential.” While Rushonrock say “Any new When Rivers Meet record inevitably inspires a ripple of excitement. The band’s fifth long player should garner a tidal wave of critical acclaim

Speaking about the album Grace Bond says: “We’ve never followed the music industry rulebook, and this album is another step in that journey. Every decision we’ve made has been about staying true to who we are as artists, and ‘Rhythm Rust & Static‘ reflects that freedom. As for our fifth studio album, we’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and grateful for the support that’s helped us get here. We’re so excited to take these songs out on the road and connect with people through them… these songs were written for the road!

Alongside the album, the duo also releases new single Horizon, a reflective and forward-looking track about navigating uncertainty and trusting the direction of the journey even when the outcome isn’t fully clear.

Grace and Aaron continue to build on the momentum that first saw them named Planet Rock Radio’s Best New Band in 2021. Off the back of a Top 4 UK album in 2025 with ‘Addicted To You‘, the Bonds remain focused on expanding their reach and breaking new ground within an ever-evolving industry.
