Fresh from the release of his acclaimed album ‘Two Shades Of Blue‘ in April via Provogue (review here), Robben Ford is back on the road in exceptional form. A five-time Grammy nominee, he remains one of the world’s most revered electric guitarists — a master of blending blues, rock, jazz and fusion into something entirely his own.
The tour starts on January 28th at The Glasshouse in Gateshead and will call through Edinburgh (Queens Hall), Holmfirth (Picturedrome), Buxton (Opera House), Lytham (Lowther Pavilion), Stamford (Corn Exchange), Norwich (Epic Studio), London (Union Chapel) and finishes on February 7th at the Cheese & Grain in Frome.
Across a career spanning more than five decades, Ford has collaborated with icons including Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis, George Harrison, Bonnie Raitt and Bob Dylan. His live shows are a rare chance to witness a true innovator at the height of his powers, combining technical brilliance with feel, soul and spontaneity.
With a new album, Robben feels at the top of his game right now. But, ‘Two Shades Of Blue‘ is not the album Ford was planning to make – but it’s all the better for it. Tracked in the US and UK with two different crack-squad bands, this album paints with his inimitable palette, from the low-slung funk-blues of lead single ‘Make My Own Weather‘ to skyscraping instrumentals such as ‘Two Shades of Blue‘ and the brass-bolstered soul ballad, ‘Perfect Illusion’ showcases the prowess of a player ranked amongst the 100 Greatest Guitarists Of The 20th Century by Musician Magazine.
Ford continues to evolve, pushing boundaries and redefining what modern blues guitar can be. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience one of the greatest guitarists of his generation live.
