Born in Stockholm in 1983, Glorious Bankrobbers blasted onto the Scandinavian rock scene with their 1984 debut, produced by none other than Kee Marcello (Easy Action/Europe). From the very start, GB earned a reputation as an explosive live act, tearing up clubs across Sweden and Norway with raw, untamed energy.
By 1989 the band had reinvented itself, unleashing the now-iconic album ‘Dynamite Sex Doze‘—a release that would become a cornerstone of Swedish sleaze and action rock. The title track’s video went on heavy rotation on MTV’s Headbangers Ball, launching the Bankrobbers beyond Scandinavia. Signed to EMA Telstar, the band hit the U.S. on a promo tour and immortalized their New York invasion with ‘Live at CBGB’s N.Y.C.‘. That recording didn’t just capture a moment—it cemented the band’s cult status and inspired a wave of Swedish rock acts to come, including Hardcore Superstar, Mustasch, and The Hellacopters.
Line-up changes and label battles followed, splitting the group again. Singer (Olle Hillborg) joined Norway’s Backstreet Girls, while the remaining members carried the torch as Mental Hippie Blood, releasing two albums. Still, the brotherhood from Sollentuna could not be broken. In 2007, the Bankrobbers roared back with ‘The Glorious Sound of Rock ’n Roll‘, receiving glowing reviews worldwide and sharing stages with legends like Nazareth, White Lion, and Mustasch.Tragedy struck a few years later when drummer Oden passed away, forcing the band into silence. But silence never lasts in rock ’n roll. In 2023 and 2024, Glorious Bankrobbers returned with fire in their veins, releasing ‘Back on the Road‘ and ‘Rock ’n Roll Church‘, showcasing a tougher sound sharpened by producer Robert “Humbucker” Persson. Reinforced with a new rhythm section, the Bankrobbers are louder, harder, and hungrier than ever.
Now, in 2026, the saga continues with the release of ‘Intruder‘ on Wild Kingdom Records—recorded at the legendary House of Voodoo Studio. The Bankrobbers are not just back; they’re proving once again why they remain one of Sweden’s most enduring and influential rock ’n roll gangs.
