Fireheart Unleash Debut Single ‘Staring At The Sun’

Fireheart, hard rock’s newest force releases highly anticipated track via Earache Digital  Distribution on 30th April 2025

Fresh off a whirlwind rise that has seen them amass thousands of fans, sell out merch in record
time, and land festival and tour offers, Fireheart are ready to set the rock scene ablaze with their debut single, ‘Staring at the Sun‘.

Releasing digitally on 30th April 2025 via Earache Digital Distribution, ‘Staring at the Sun‘ is a soaring, anthemic hard rock track that cuts straight to the heart. Lyrically, the song explores the struggle of letting down emotional walls, whether in love, friendship, or personal growth, and learning to trust, to be free, and to embrace the light of better days.

It’s about having someone in your life but being too scared to move forward, to really let them
in,” explains Russ Grimmett (Lead Vocalist). “We wanted this song to capture that moment of
release, when you finally trust enough to let go and just be happy. Spend your days staring at the
sun instead of hiding in the dark.

The band say: “We want to let you in on the meaning behind ‘Staring At The Sun‘; not just what it means to us, but what it might mean to you.

This song is about breaking free. Letting go of the past, of everything that weighs you down, and choosing to live fully, even when things around you are falling apart. It’s about standing beside someone as they finally see their worth, shake off the fear, and step into the light.

With raw honesty, arena-ready hooks, and an undeniable energy, ‘Staring at the Sun‘ is the first
taste of what Fireheart is bringing to the hard rock revival. The band, comprised of Russ Grimmett (vocals), Kev Baker (guitar), Lee Jason (lead guitar), Bret Barnes (bass), and Chris Hopton (drums), has already established itself as a rising powerhouse, blending modern edge with classic rock roots.

Fireheart isn’t just a band, it’s a movement. A story of resilience, redemption, and passion, shared by five musicians who’ve fought their own battles and emerged stronger. Their growing
community of fans, built on authenticity and connection, is proof that rock’s fire is still burning
bright.

‘Staring at the Sun’ lands 30th April. Prepare to feel the heat.
Fireheart has already captured massive attention. In just six weeks, they’ve amassed thousands of authentic Facebook followers, and their limited-edition merch drop, originallyplanned for 14 days, sold out in just 35 hours due to overwhelming demand.

Their message of speaking openly about mental health, overcoming adversity, and never
backing down has struck a chord with fans worldwide. Fireheart isn’t just a band, it’s a
movement, proving that even in the darkest times, you can rise, rebuild, and set the world
ablaze.

The industry is already taking notice, with tour and festival offers rolling in before the band has
even played a show. To top it off, Fireheart has partnered with Earache Records Distribution to release their debut EP later this year, setting the stage for one of the most highly anticipated rock debuts in recent memory.

This is just the beginning. Five hearts. One fire. And nothing is going to stop it

The band are doing a Facebook Live question & answer session today (April 2nd) at 7.30pm. Click here and RSVP as ‘going’.

Bio:

Fireheart isn’t just a band, it’s a brotherhood forged in struggle, resilience, and an unshakable love for music. Each member has faced their own battles with mental health, personal loss, and self-doubt, yet they’ve come together to create something powerful. Their music isn’t just about playing rock, it’s about survival, about proving that no matter how many times life knocks you down, you can always get back up.

At the heart of Fireheart is Kev Baker (Guitarist, formerly of The Hot One Two), a musician whose battle with depression and anxiety has shaped him as much as his guitar playing. He spent years feeling like he was never enough, and when he was unexpectedly dismissed from The Hot One Two, the band he had poured everything into, it felt like confirmation of his worst fears. But instead of letting it destroy him, he chose to fight back. Kev is known for his brutally honest social media presence, openly discussing his darkest moments and his estrangement from his parents. Through his music and his words, he’s built a deep connection with fans who see themselves in his struggles, proving that no one has to go through it alone.

Bret Barnes (Bass Player, formerly of Kira Mac) didn’t start out as a bassist, his first instrument was the saxophone, which he still plays today. As a teenager, he realized that bass players were rare, so he picked one up (the wrong way around at first) and never looked back. He has been through the highs and lows of being in multiple bands, and after his last project fell apart, he was ready to sell his Rickenbackers and walk away from music. Instead, Fireheart reignited his passion. Coming from a family of Land Rover enthusiasts, he’s used to getting his hands dirty and fixing things, but now, he’s putting that same energy into making this band work, because for him, this is the last shot.

Russ Grimmett (Singer of Sons of Liberty) was born into music. With a touring musician for a father, he grew up hearing about the harsh realities of the industry, but that never stopped him from chasing his own dream. Despite running a successful IT business and having two amazing kids, he still wrestles with feelings of self-doubt and never being good enough. Mental health is a constant battle, but Fireheart has given him something bigger than himself. With a band that understands the struggles, and a growing fan community built on honesty and support, Russ has found a place where passion outweighs doubt, and where music truly has the power to heal.

For Lee Jason (Lead Guitarist, formerly of Ryders Creed), the guitar has always been his escape. Growing up, he was bullied for his curiosity, his love of rock music, and his appearance. Constantly told to get a “real” job, he struggled with self-worth and eventually fell into depression, substance abuse, and even a suicide attempt. But music was his lifeline, it kept him going when nothing else could. Now, with Fireheart, he’s determined to prove that no matter what anyone says, dreams are worth chasing. His playing isn’t just about skill, it’s about emotion, about channelling pain into something meaningful, and about inspiring others to keep going.

Chris Hopton (Drummer, formerly of The Gypsy Pistoleros, Tigertailz and Life of a Hero) has had rock and roll running through his veins since birth. His father was a drummer, his mother a die-hard rock fan—it was inevitable that he’d follow the same path. But just as his career was gaining momentum, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, throwing everything into uncertainty. For a time, he feared his health would force him to quit music altogether. But after surgeries and treatment, he’s back behind the kit, more determined than ever to prove that nothing—not illness, not setbacks, not life’s curveballs—can stand in the way of passion.
Fireheart is more than a band. It’s a movement. It’s five musicians who have been knocked down time and time again but refuse to stay down. It’s for anyone who has ever felt lost, broken, or like they weren’t enough. Because in Fireheart, no one fights alone.
