There have been so many loving tributes to Bernie Marsden since he passed away peacefully in 2023 at the age of 72. Bernie was always keen to show the music that inspired him, whether through his stage set or on his albums.
In addition to 2023’s ‘Working Man‘ (review here), his latest album of original songs, Bernie had also released three chart busting solo albums since 2021 in ‘Kings‘, ‘Chess‘ and ‘Trios‘ as part of his Inspirations series, in which he paid tribute to the artists that helped shape his taste in music and guitar style.
With the approval of Bernie’s widow, Fran Marsden, the fourth album of studio recordings in the Inspirations Series, ‘Icons‘, will be released on 9th May 2025.
As an appetizer for the album, a digital EP is out now featuring a remarkable Bernie Marsden interpretation of ‘Purple Haze‘. Bernie had crafted a complimentary riff that acts as a perfect counterfoil to the classic Jimi Hendrix lick.
Track List:
- Purple Haze
- Joe’s Place
- Pick It Up
- Sitting On Top of the World
- On The Road Again

The ‘Icons‘ album can be pre-ordered from the special Bernie Marsden shop. Each order will also include an exclusive free Collectors’ Card.
