Award Winning Blues Rock Band Catfish’s 29 Year Old Lead Singer Matt Long Loses His Cancer Battle

Sad news has reached us that Catfish lead singer Matt Long has died.

Catfish’s 29 year old lead singer and guitarist Matt Long had been battling bowel cancel.

The music community and friends had come together to raise a large amount of money on the GoFundMe crowdfunder, to give him access to whatever treatment is available which may have helped him either live a little longer or maybe with a miracle save his life. Sadly time ran out.

Message from the Long family
Our hearts are breaking
Yesterday, we lost our kind, funny, wonderful, talented son and Catfish frontman/guitarist Matthew Long to cancer. He was just 29.
Matthew was overwhelmed by the love and support he received from the music community – thank you to all the incredible artists who took part in the many benefit gigs across the country, and to those of you who organised and attended them. Thank you to all those of you who donated to the Gofundme crowdfunder and those who pledged on the auction of music memorabilia. This gave him funds to access additional drugs and treatment not available on the NHS, which helped extend Matt’s life. We will be forever grateful to each and every one of you who contributed.
Matthew really wanted to live, and we tried everything available to us to try to save him, but sadly the cancer was just too aggressive and fast moving for the chemo. He passed peacefully with his soulmate Sam and his family at his bedside.
Matthew wrote a song called ‘Archangel’ when his Nana passed a few years ago. I can’t think of a more appropriate way to say how we all feel right now. Goodbye, our beautiful boy.
I can’t keep you here
You can’t stand the pain
Even though I need you
And the tears fall like rain
Although this goodbye
Tears me up inside
I know you will be
Forever at my side
Just slip away
As I remain
To remember you as you were
So lay down to rest
Let yourself go
Be that eternal friend of mine
I’ll sing you a song
One final time
Be that archangel here by my side.

Matt will be very much missed by both the music community and music fans Worldwide.
