As you may have seen on social media over the past year, five times UK blues award winning blues rock band Catfish’s 29 year old lead singer and guitarist Matt Long has been battling bowel cancer.  He has just been told a few days ago that the chemotherapy hasn’t worked and the cancer has spread to his liver and stomach lining. The hospital are not sure there is anything else they can do on the NHS so we are now having to look at private options including those in the USA.

The music community and our friends have come together and have raised a large amount of money on the GoFundMe crowdfunder, so that we can give him access to whatever treatment is available which may help him either live a little longer or maybe with a miracle save his life.

It is wonderful to see the music community come together to help one of their own. Every donation helps give Matt the best possible chance of beating his cancer.

“To be honest, we haven’t thought much further ahead than the next couple of months at the moment, beyond cancelling the European tour we were due to start at the end of this week, but I think we will almost certainly have to cancel most of  the European dates at least for the rest of this year and cut back considerably on the U.K. dates until we know more. However, his medical team have said it will be good for his mental health at this time to have other things to focus on and for him to get out and do what he loves, so once we know what his next treatment schedule will be, we will work out which festivals he may be well enough to do. ” Fiona Long
