Award-winning rock duo, Royal Blood, have announced their scholarship with WaterBear – The College of Music. Hailing from Brighton, Royal Blood have an instant connection to the music college which is based in the famous North Laine area of the city.
But it’s not only location they have in common. WaterBear‘s ethos is very much reflected in Royal Blood‘s career. Innovation in the music industry is at the forefront, paving the way for musicians to drive their own career in a unique way, armed with the tools they need to succeed in an ever-changing landscape. Comprising of drummer Ben Thatcher and bassist/vocalist Mike Kerr, the two-piece has proven that a passion for what you do combined with unwavering authenticity can pave the way for a great career (both of their studio albums reached number 1 in the UK) and result in redefining genres.
The scholarship will cover all tuition fees for one lucky student throughout their degree at WaterBear. The course eligible for the scholarship award is the BA (Hons) Career Musician which can be studied on-site in Brighton, or online via distance learning – this gives musicians the choice to study in a way that suits them, from wherever they are in the world.
Music has no boundaries. With a commitment to smaller class sizes, flexible course delivery and one-to-one mentoring, WaterBear represents a fresh approach to Higher Education.
Royal Blood says: “We’re excited to team up with WaterBear for this scholarship and support an artist on their journey into a career in music. We look forward to meeting the other musicians studying at the college too.”
