Dan Patlansky Announces New Album & March 2018 UK Tour

South African singer-songwriter and guitarist, Dan Patlansky, is set to the release his new studio album ‘Perfection Kills‘ in the UK on Friday 2nd February 2018. The album is the follow up to 2016’s critically acclaimed ‘Introvertigo‘ which was voted #1 BluesRock Album 2016 by Blues Rock Review.

To dovetail with the release of the new album, Dan will be special guest on Joanne Shaw Taylor’s nationwide 7-date UK tour that starts on Tuesday 7th November at Gateshead Sage. To coincide with the tour, he will release a new single ‘Dog Day‘ taken from the ‘Perfection Kills’ album.

Patlansky was nominated as one of Classic Rock magazine’s hotly tipped new artists of 2015. His album, ‘Dear Silence Thieves’ received accolades and praise from the British press. He’s been voted Most Promising Male Blues Artist by Blues & Soul Magazine, and only recently has he been nominated as Best International Solo Artist at the Planet Rock Radio ‘Rocks’ Awards.

Perfection Kills‘ was recorded at Scherzo Productions, a recording studio in Dan’s home town of Pretoria, South Africa. Dan chose Scherzo because he wanted to make a different sounding record and he felt it was the right studio for his vision.

Patlansky produced the album himself, something he hadn’t done in years. Says Dan, “I learnt so much working with Theo Crous who was the producer on previous two albums ‘Dear Silence Thieves‘ and ‘Introvertigo‘. I worked on pre-production and song writing with Theo on a couple of the tracks for Perfection Kills and applied what I learnt to the recording and production process of the album.

“‘Perfection Kills‘ is all about my vision of making a record that still make the song writing a priority as in the past, the final product delivers a far more real and organic result.

Track By Track By Dan Patlansky

The meaning behind Perfection Kills? It’s the pursuit of perfection in any art form is futile,” says Patlansky about the new album. “It often does more harm than good, to both the artist on a personal level, as well as the art form itself.

1. Johnny
This song is about a kid who had a challenging upbringing, and how survival turned him into a tough and sometimes volatile adult.

2. Never Long Enough
This song is about being home with the love of my life and how the seemingly mundane is something I yearn for. The clock is constantly ticking to my next departure and these moments with her are never long enough.

3. Mayday
The modern day rat-race is blindsiding people from the most important thing in life; LOVE. As a result, relationships are crashing.

4. Too Far Gone
With the annihilation of the environment, famine, war, greed and human stupidity, the world is becoming scarier every day. Are we too far gone?

5. Judge A Man
This song is a moan about girls I have dated before, that believed being a musician is not a real job. Judge a man on what he achieves, and not on your own ignorant views.

6. Junket Man
A Junket man is someone who travels for their livelihood, which is an accurate description of my career. Travel is just an inescapable part of the job.

7. iEyes
Our complete addiction to living life through a screen, not noticing the high res world all around us.

8. Shake The Cage
I believe in the theory that life works in 7 year cycles. This song is about embracing change and actively changing your mind set every now and then, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone.

9. My Dear Boy
This is a song for the newest addition to the family, my son Jack.

10. Dog Day
We all have those days where nothing goes our way. However, our first world problems are nothing compared to what many people have to deal with.
