Armored Saint has released a new video for their digital single ‘Isolation (Live from Isolation)‘ – a live re-recording of the classic track, ‘Isolation‘, which appeared on 1987’s ‘Raising Fear‘. This new version was recorded and filmed in April 2020 while all of the band members were quarantined at their homes in Los Angeles, CA.

Bassist Joey Vera comments: “Like everyone else right now, we’re trying to make the best of the situation. So we decided to have a little fun with one of our older songs. It was fun playing with a stripped-down version of ‘Isolation‘ – lyrically and sonically, it just fit for the times. Be safe everyone and enjoy your ‘Isolation‘!

Front-man John Bush comments: “With live shows in a sad state of limbo, we decided to come together (yet apart) and revisit the song ‘Isolation’ from the 1987 ‘Raising Fear‘ record. We did an acoustic, swampy take on it. It was a fun, raw project.

Armored Saint also recently completed work on their upcoming studio album, due out fall 2020 via Metal Blade Records. “We’re overjoyed with the completion of the new Armored Saint record,” enthuses John Bush. “We feel the songwriting has taken yet another giant step.

Joey Vera adds: “We’re super excited right now, putting final touches on our new record in the mastering stage. We really tried to challenge ourselves with both songwriting and performance, and the results are something we’re taking with great pride.

Stay tuned for more Armored Saint news coming soon. In the meantime, fans can stream and purchase the band’s latest release and live album, Carpe Noctum (2016), now at: metalblade.com/armoredsaint

Since they first started, Sorcerer have been labeled “epic doom” – a tag that fits but does not define them, and this has never been more evident than on their third full-length album, ‘Lamenting of The Innocent‘. On this record, the Swedish quintet return with a revamped line-up that includes long standing guitarists Kristian Niemann and Peter Hallgren plus vocalist Anders Engberg, joined by bassist Justin Biggs and former drummer Richard Evensand – both of whom bring something new and fresh to Sorcerer. This time around, the band let their influences shine through, breaking up the epic doom with flavors of prog, post-metal, classic heavy metal and hard rock. The track “Deliverance” also features a guest appearance: Johan Langquist of Candlemass and renowned Swedish cellist Svante Henryson. Sorcerer comments: “They truly brought another dimension to that song and now it’s impossible to imagine it without their contributions, which is the way it should be when you bring guests in to perform; they are there to provide something you couldn’t do on your own.”

Producing the album themselves, the band are self-confessed hardcore perfectionists who will accept nothing but the absolute best in every aspect of the recording process. The only collaborators involved in the making of ‘Lamenting of The Innocent‘ were Ronnie Björnström, who both mixed and mastered the album, and Conny Welén who contributed to the songwriting.

Sorcerer adds: “We play music that relates to when we grew up, with bands like Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and such. They are all influences and we like to build that dramatic touch into our music. It’s important for us to create a feeling in the song that will take you, maybe, to another world or a fantasy place somewhere, and the bands we grew up with are the masters of this. By the same token we are also influenced by more contemporary acts and their approach to arrangements and orchestration. Inspiration can come from anywhere, but we all know when we’ve captured that ‘Sorcerer sound’. It feels like home.

1. Persecution (intro)
2. The Hammer of Witches
3. Lamenting of the Innocent
4. Institoris

6. Deliverance
7. Age of the Damned

9. Dance with the Devil

11. Hellfire (Bonus Track – only available on Digipak CD)

In support of ‘Lamenting of The Innocent‘, Sorcerer will head out on the road this May/June for some special shows and festival appearances across Europe. The band comments: “We are really looking forward to playing both the new songs and the old ones at the upcoming shows! See you out there!

On February 21st, rock & roll comedian Don Jamieson will release his new album, ‘Denim & Laughter‘, via Metal Blade Records. Former ‘That Metal Show‘ host Jamieson comments: “This album was recorded in front of about 40 hardcore fans in a speakeasy in a secret location in Los Angeles on October 19, 2019. Now the rest of you can enjoy it!
I’ve recorded my stand-up albums in comedy clubs, rock clubs and now an illegal club. Comedy is way more fun when you’re at the risk of being raided at any moment!
Special thanks to one of my favourite all-time bands, Saxon, for letting me do the comedic version of their classic album ‘Denim & Leather‘. And I can’t wait to tour the U.K. and Europe with their singer, Biff Byford. They follow in a prestigious line of my album cover band parodies…Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin. But of course, the album is not just for rockers, but for all people who like humor with a rock and roll attitude. Comedy is like rock and roll…it’s no fun if it’s not dangerous. And being a comedian on Metal Blade Records makes the whole package complete.

1. Drinking Buddy, Hipster Jizz & Gluten-Free Keith Richards
2. Miserable Sober, Booze Rehab & Liquid Cocaine
3. Chevy Sativa, a Yankee Candle & Stonehenge
4. The Greatest Country, Wife-Beaters & Aliens
5. Tea Tree Shampoo & Adam Levine’s Nipples
6. That Metal Show, Hi-Def Porn & P.C. Bands
7. Alice & Ozzy, Zakk Wylde & Buzztightrear
8. Black Sabbath, Gwar, & a Bloody Good Flight
9. Stone Cold, a Sporty Ford Fusion, Rock out with Your C*ck Out
10. Roast on the Range, She’s Only 17
11. Billy Ray, Little League, Prison Time
12. Mounting Mary, Serial Killers, Death by Bus
13. Gorilla Sex, Spitting, Banana Tits
14. Gender Fluid, D.N.A. Test, Anal Fetish
15. Fake News & the Return of the Sporty Ford Fusion

In support of this record, Jamieson will be performing on the Monsters of Rock Cruise set to sail Feb. 8-13 before hitting the road in the UK and Europe this spring with Biff Byford. Each show will take an “evening with” format and will be split into two halves. The first half will be a comedy set by Jamieson, who will quiz Biff on all aspects of his life and his legendary career. The second half will be a live show featuring Biff and his solo band. As Biff explains: “The show will consist of some old songs, some new songs, some cover versions and some songs off the solo album.

Amongst his many accomplishments, his Metal Blade Records stand-up albums – ‘Live & Hilarious‘, ‘Hell Bent For Laughter‘, ‘Communication Breakdown‘ – all debuted on the Billboard comedy charts. Jamieson also became an “Emmy Award-Winner” for his work on HBO’s ‘Inside The NFL‘, where he and long-time comedy partner, Jim Florentine, wrote, produced and performed sports-themed comedy sketches.

Metal Blade Records is proud to welcome Dvne to its worldwide roster! Founded in 2013, Dvne is a 5-piece progressive rock/metal band from Edinburgh, Scotland. With highly dynamic compositions venturing from delicate and intricate melodies to crushing and brutal soundscapes, Dvne‘s music takes its listeners through a deeply emotional journey filled with dystopian thematics, grand narrative, and other-worldly landscapes. Fans can expect their upcoming 2nd full-length album – and Metal Blade debut – in 2020.

Dvne comments: “We are over the moon to announce that we have joined forces with Metal Blade Records. Working with such a legendary label and being among so many bands that have inspired us throughout the years is a huge honor.
Having just finished recording our next album, we are beyond thrilled on how far we’ve pushed our music and ourselves, and can’t wait to unveil it to you all with the support of one of the most iconic record labels in heavy music.”

To date, Dvne has released one studio album and two EPs. They emerged within the UK scene with their first EP ‘Progenitor‘ (2013 – Wasted State Records), shortly followed by a second EP, ‘Aurora Majesty‘ (2014 – Sea of Corruption Records). At their releases, both EPs received very favorable receptions, with reviewers calling their releases “Progressive metal at its best” (This Is Not A Scene – US) and “Stunning and majestic” (Nine Hertz – UK).

Dvne quickly began to make a name for themselves in the UK and around Europe, with various shows throughout these territories alongside the likes of Eyehategod, Crowbar, Dragged Into Sunlight, among others. The band’s sound at the time was already crossing over different music styles, including post-metal, progressive rock and sludge metal, but it is with their first full-length album, ‘Asheran‘ (Wasted State Records), that the band further established their unique blend of heavy music. Released in August 2017, ‘Asheran‘ was overwhelmingly praised by the press and was listed on many “best album of the year” lists.

Since ‘Asheran”s release, Dvne has toured all over the UK, Europe and North America, appearing at prestigious festivals such as Psycho Las Vegas, Desertfest London and Inferno Festival Norway. Not content to repeat their previous releases and always looking to push their sound forward, Dvne recently finished recording their 2nd album at Chamber Studio with producer Graeme Young. This new 10 track journey will be released worldwide via Metal Blade Records in 2020. Stay tuned for more news coming soon!

On November 1st, Angel Witch will release their fifth full-length, ‘Angel of Light‘, via Metal Blade Records. Angel Witch‘s 1980 eponymous debut on Bronze records created shockwaves that would resonate throughout the nascent realm of thrash, doom and death metal. Now, nearly four decades later, the band remain custodians of a style that transcends era and archetype.

Angel Witch‘s current line-up is comprised of Kevin Heybourne (vocals, lead guitar), Jimmy Martin (rhythm guitar), Will Palmer (bass), Fredrik Jansson Punkka (drums) – the nucleus of which (Heybourne & Palmer) first formed eleven years ago, delivering 2012’s critically acclaimed album, ‘As Above, So Below‘. This time around, the band went to the Stationhouse in Leeds (UK) to record ‘Angel of Light‘ with producer James Atkinson (Gentleman’s Pistols/Voorhees). The result is a revelation; Angel Witch is reborn and more powerful than ever, retaining every iota of the melodious finesse and metaphysical intrigue that elevated them above their contemporaries from day one.

Angel Witch comments: “It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a decade since we recorded our last album and it is so exciting for us, personally, to have another record fully finished and in the bag which reflects the passion and chemistry of the line-up we have enjoyed over the last two and a half years.

1. Don’t Turn Your Back
2. Death from Andromeda
3. We Are Damned
4. The Night is Calling
5. Condemned
6. Window of Despair
7. I am Infamy

Angel Witch will play four German release shows, a rare chance to see them play small club. Do not miss out!

Comments the band: “This is an incredibly exciting moment for us all. We’ve been together less than two years yet so much has happened already. From day one we announced Tanith as a transatlantic band and now the time has come to truly live up to that. We can hardly wait for that first show in Russ’s home town of Newcastle! Does anyone have a plane and is able to give us a ride from New York to Newcastle?

Tanith released their debut full-length, ‘In Another Time‘, last May via Metal Blade Records. Taking their name from a character in the classic Hammer Horror The Devil Rides Out, Tanith play vintage hard rock that harks back to the glory days of Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy and Uriah Heep. However, while such influences resonate through their music, they are never derivative, having a strong musical identity and forging their own sound.

The origin of Tanith lies in Cindy Maynard (Bass, Vocals) and Satan’s Russ Tippins (Guitars, Vocals) playing covers in clubs and pubs in Tippins’ native UK, but it soon became obvious that they wanted to create content of their own, and form a full band. Deciding to locate the act in New York, they recruited close friend Charles Newton on guitar and drummer Keith Robinson to realize this.

Let me just say upfront that this is no solo project, but a four-piece band where each member has an equal say,” Tippins says. “If I even wanted to call the shots these guys wouldn’t let me! Collectively, we have a dynamic that really works. Not only are we friends who hang out as a matter of course, but musically the pieces all fit to make a picture. It’s a rare thing and I appreciate it more than most, having played in so many bands previously.” The manner in which the four musicians combine is indeed a special thing, and every contribution is essential. “Russ brings most of the substance, spirit and lyrics to the band,” Maynard enthuses. “He’s a visionary, so easy to work with creatively, and just loves getting together and playing with his friends. Charlie is a natural complement to Russ on the guitar, I would say technically and creatively, and he has a way of explaining things with a clarity that makes technically tricky things somehow simpler to execute. Then we have Keith, who is a great, flexible and tasteful drummer, and his grounded nature and playing really anchors everything we do.” Tippins likewise enthuses about Maynard’s contributions, heralding her as “an inspirational person who leads by example in every way. There is no one else I’d rather have beside me on stage, while off stage she is an orchestrator with the vision to keep things on point.
