Matt Pearce’s musical mutiny is alive, well, in-progress and ongoing. Matt Pearce & The Mutiny are delighted to announce physical and digital releases of tracks from their tour exclusive 5-track EP: ‘An Ongoing Thing: Demos, Acoustics and Covers’. Previously only available at the band’s live gigs, the current disruption to touring, combined with the fans’ hunger for more music has inspired Matt to make the EP more widely available, for a limited time only, giving music-starved fans a chance to revel in the Mutiny!

Phew,” says Matt, “Year 1 of the Mutiny was a wild ride! A million thanks to everyone that’s played, supported, listened to and bought the music and come see the shows so far. It’s truly been a thrill to have y’all with us on the journey. So here’s a wee glimpse into the future: a couple of newbies in demo form, a couple of covers ‘live’ in the studio, and an acoustic version of Some People. Hope you like!

Three tracks from the EP — three prime pieces of Matt Pearce & The MutinyFunky Souladelic Blues Rock Jam’ goodness  —will go live on Spotify on Today – Monday 29th June.

What’s more, fans who like to own physical copies can find the CD EP for purchase on Matt’s website and on Amazon, only while stocks last. The CD includes all 5 tracks, including the ‘demo’ versions of two new, original ones (which aren’t among the 3 tracks Matt is releasing on Spotify).

Previously, ‘An Ongoing Thing’ was only  ever available at Matt Pearce & The Mutiny gigs. Matt explains why  he’s giving it a wider release, for a limited time: “As you will know, we released an exclusive EP last year: to be sold only at the live shows on our UK tour. The response was amazing, so we sold out of all copies. Because we had a lot of folks asking, we re-pressed the CD again only to be sold at our upcoming shows in 2020, So what you get is 2 brand-new songs, in demo format, a laid-back acoustic version of ‘Some People’ from my debut album ‘Gotta Get Home’, and the two funky covers we always close our live shows with. To keep the vibe funky, these songs were recorded ‘live’ in the studio.

The EP includes 5 tracks: ‘Got a Thing Going On’, ‘Do What You Do’, ‘Some People’ (acoustic) — all written by Matt Pearce; also Matt Pearce & The Mutiny live gig favourite covers: ‘Strange Relationship’ (written by Prince) and ‘Oh Well’. (Fleetwood Mac).

Recorded at Soup Studios, it’s the product of a fine, funky mutineering line-up, with excellent chemistry, much musical edge and va va voom: Matt Pearce (vocals, guitar); Joe Lazarus (drums); Joe Mac (keyboards); Kelpie Mackenzie (bass); Daliah Sherrington (vocals); and Terry Edwards (sax). Together, they deliver these songs with skill, passion and gusto,

Matt Pearce & The Mutiny are sharing a new lyric video for ‘Gotta Get Home’  – the radio edit of the epic title track from their hugely successful album of the same name, which has been playlisted by Planet Rock. The band are also delighted to announce the support for their forthcoming headline gig in the form of blues rockers Trident Waters.

Musically, ‘Gotta Get Home’ hits and hooks you from the start with raw, bluesy, sleazy opening chords and almost hypnotic groove. Then, in come Matt’s impassioned lead vocals, enriched by soaring female backing: a combo that fuses together perfectly in the glorious chorus and becomes a fully epic sound: the “Funky Souladelic Blues Rock Jam Thing!“ that Matt loves so much.

The newly-released video with sci-fi visuals was a deliberate decision, making a nod to the recent 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing; also projecting a sense of ‘home’ on a cosmic stage and scale.

Matt puts it this way: “The reaction to the single has been amazing, Darren Redick and Planet Rock have been so supportive once again. I hope people like the video just as much: it was an idea I had of a much wider idea of where our home is in the scheme of things, perhaps inspired by the recent moon landing anniversary. So it’s one small step for Matt…”

Matt certainly hasn’t been standing still since that first step. He and The Mutiny have been striding forth!

Not only have Matt Pearce & The Mutiny recently announced that they will be undertaking their first UK tour (as special guests of Laurence Jones, between November and December), they’re now delighted to announce further details of the debut Mutiny headline show at London’s Thousand Island on 26th September!

I cannot wait for our first headline gig in my adopted home of London, at the very groovy Thousand Island, upstairs from the legendary Garage! says Matt, “It’ll give me a chance to play a longer set, maybe chuck in a bit of new stuff and the odd cover. Whatever makes it a funky night!

And,” he adds “I’m very happy to have the awesome, upandcoming Trident Waters open the night, these guys are a band to watch in the future.”

Trident Waters are a rising, London-based, three-piece rock/blues band,  lauded as the “offspring of a whiskey-drenched Led Zeppelin and Hawkwind”. They’ll perfectly complement the headliners and add extra lift and thrust to what’s going to be a roof-raising night as Matt Pearce & The Mutiny make their triumphant headline debut!

UK Rising Blues Rock sensation Laurence Jones releases the new studio eponymous studio album ‘Laurence Jones Band’. The accomplished new album, recorded in Miami, and produced by Gregory Elias is set for release on Friday 27th September 2019 on Top Stop Music via Sony.

The band is comprised of Laurence Jones (vocals and guitar), Phil Wilson (drums), Bennett Holland (keyboard) and Greg Smith (bass).

Laurence Jones has been writing songs and releasing albums since 2012. During this time, the Blues Rock troubadour has been busy fine-tuning his sound playing to packed house across Europe, paving the way for a new generation of Blues rock performers, guitarists and singer songwriters.

Award winning guitarist, Laurence Jones says, “I’m really proud to bring you this new album, two years of hard work have gone into the planning and recording of it. I will let the music do the talking though and see you on the road at a show!

The album will be available on CD, Vinyl, limited Deluxe Vinyl (coloured – Amethyst) and in the bundles – such as a deluxe bundle including the Signed Deluxe Edition Vinyl, Ltd Edition T-shirt, Signed CD, Ltd Edition collectors badge set and signed photo of Laurence Jones Band. Matt Pearce & The Mutiny are proud to premiere a brand-new video for ‘Scarecrowing’: a track taken from a double A-side single, drawn from the forthcoming debut album ‘Gotta Get Home; (to be released on 3rd May on Mutinear Records).

“I’m very excited that on April 19th, it’s finally time to release my music into the wild!“ says Matt, gleefully, “Get ready for a double A ‘single’ of two of my fave songs off the album, which between them show the funky, bluesy and soulful sides of what I do.

I also had a blast filming the performance video for ‘Scarecrowing’ at London’s legendary Half Moon venue in Putney, aided and abetted by my trusty Mutineers. Roll on May the 3rd album release day!

Scarecrowing’ grabs you right from the off with its punchy bassline and bluesy wailing guitar hook, whilst Matt’s just-as-bluesy vocals make this original song a cracking blend of modern blues and classic. As for the guitar solos, they give acclaimed axeman Matt Pearce a chance to show his virtuosity: skill honed as a member of successful hard rockers Voodoo Six Now. Matt Pearce has committed to lead a musical mutiny, very different from his ongoing work with V6.

Listen to the track and you’ll hear the spirit of many a bluesman given a fresh outing with modern talent: echoes of bands Matt loved, growing up and learning his craft, like The Stones, Led Zep; Free, and early ZZ Top. “Yeah, I was captivated by their relentless rock ‘n’ roll spirit,” he says, “but it was the rhythmic grooves in their funkiest tunes that I also loved. These bands had soul.” This comes alive in Matt Pearce & The Mutiny, infuses the band’s performance, and can be heard loud and kicking as the band goes ‘Scarecrowing’.

Matt’s passionate about his first solo project, for which he’s been songwriter, singer and musician, also drawing together a great band, and self-producing and publishing the material. He reckons you could call it a ‘Funky Soul-a-delic Blues Rock Jam Thing’, or just a seriously funky blues band. Like the Black Crowes playing Prince songs, or vice versa!

Released as a double A-side, ‘Scarecrowing’ is partnered with ‘Set Me Free’, The single’s flipside ‘Set Me Free’ won Classic Rock Tracks Of The Week and is currently receiving heavy playlist rotation on Planet Rock.

Check out’ Scarecrowing’ for a strong shot of blues, spiced with funk, swagger and sense of musicians really revelling, as they hand out fresh, funky musical moonshine. It’s a great taste of ‘Gotta Get Home’ and will leave you thirsting for more, so watch for the album’s release at the start of May.
