Lace Release New Album Via FnA Records

Lace shares their music and heritage from their days on the Sunset Strip on their new self-Titled released on FnA Records.

Lace, who started off as a glam band in Long Island New York eventually took the plunge and relocated to La La Land (Los Angeles). There they played all the clubs that the hot indie bands played like the Troubadour and Gazzarri’s. Their draw ensured that they were regulars of the major hot spots on a regular basis.

Lace consisted of: John Kutowski (aka Lacey) on guitar, Shawn McNeely (aka Neely) on bass, Tom Zarakas (aka Tommy Z) on drums, and Mike Vallarella (aka Val) on vocals. As Lace, they were a united front, and each member carried their own weight in what was a team mentality.

Lace, like other Hollywood dreamers, plastered the light poles with flyers while entertaining their heavily female fan base. In fact, they traded make-up secrets with the women. Their fanbase also consisted of the long-haired male counterparts who wanted to hang on and go for a ride.

Like many of the other bands of the scene, Lace received a record deal in 1992, only for the label to fold. Lace persevered and self-released a 4 track cassette. The EP featured heartfelt ballads and catchy pop anthems.

Ultimately, the changing of the guard brought forth a new sound that was nothing like theirs and the band ultimately faded into obscurity. Still to this day, Lace is extremely grateful for their time spent on the scene. Almost 35 years later, they feel that they serve as a great example for aspiring musicians who have the vision, stamina and endurance to keep a band together and keep the Rock Rolling!!!
