Balls, Strangeways (new), Unruly Child (new), Midnight Sun, Savatage, Sword & Manowar………how’s that for a mixture??
Another sad day in the rock world with the news that Steve Lee, singer with Swiss band Gotthard, has been killed in a motorbike accident.
Here’s a video in tribute to a great voice.
If you look up the Wikipedia definition of music it states
‘Music is an art form whose medium is sound. Common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture.’
How do I define it? It is the soundtrack to my life, of utmost importance in my day to day existence, in fact it is almost past emotion.
Imagine if you can, life without any form of music, well okay I sure wouldn’t miss sections of it that’s for sure, but it would impact so heavily on our daily lives.
Okay, that’s enough of my philosophical musings, now back to the show….
And that is a killer metal version of 16 tons by Martin DeBourge (Damien Thorne vocalist) in conjunction with Soul Cycle’s Chris Catharsis.
Martin DeBourge (pronounced Dee Bore Jhay)
is the original vocalist for prog rock group torman maxt. He’s now singing for Chicago’s legendary metal band Damien Thorne, who was one of the first thrash bands to be signed to Road Runner back in the day. They’re finishing up the production of a new album scheduled for release in early 2011 – just before they go to Germany for the Keep It True festival.
16 Tons is the first collaborative effort with Martin & Soul Cycle’s Chris Catharsis. The two plan to work on more projects together including an album full of extreme metal takes on world music. Look for more in the very near future.
Martin is working on what he refers to as a massive progressive metal effort called Quester. It features some heavy hitters in the industry and promises to be a tasty treat to fans of music ranging anywhere from King Crimson, Blotted Science and on up to Dream Theater.
