British crossover progressive rock band The Room release a single in aid of the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) on March 4th 2013.
The track, Screaming Through The Noise is taken from the band’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘Open Fire’, released late last year.
Vocalist Martin Wilson said “The song is about the intense emotional impact that my son’s battle with retinal cancer had on our family.
With the release of the single, we want to help CHECT increase awareness of this dreadful disease and of course raise money to help fund research and support other families living with retinoblastoma.”
The single will be launched at a one-off show in aid of the trust at the Jagz Club, Ascot, in Berkshire at 8pm on Sunday 3rd March. The show will be the band’s first live performance since the release of Open Fire. “This is a really exciting time for us, and we can’t wait to get out and play live”, explained Wilson. “The show will be free to get in on the night but of course we will be looking for donations from as many people as possible.”
Joy Felgate, chief executive of CHECT said: “We are thrilled that The Room will be supporting us through this single release and launch show. The money raised will help us make a difference by backing our vital campaigns to make sure all parents and health professionals know the signs and symptoms of retinoblastoma.”
Details of how to buy the single via digital download will be announced soon with all proceeds going to CHECT.
The band will be announcing more UK dates in the very near future.
Retinoblastoma (Rb) is a rare form of cancer which affects the retina of children, predominantly under the age of five years and it represents 3% of childhood
cancers in the UK. Children affected by the disease can suffer from loss of vision, removal of their affected eye(s) and, in some cases, total blindness.
Covered Call: An expression used in financial circles depicting a picture of Wall Street, big cities, and the frenzy of the stock market. Covered Call the band, however, was born in a small carpentry shed in the dark, deep forests of Sweden. The contrast couldn´t be greater between the band and their name.
Covered Call was formed by drummer Ronny Svanströmer and guitarist Joel Carlsson. Subsequently, second guitarist Morgan Rosenquist joined the band and the material rapidly started taking shape.
The band immediately landed a deal and released their debut album “Money Never Sleeps” internationally in 2009. During the recording sessions for the band’s second album bassist Andy Loos (ex Glory, Lion´s Share) was recruited as a full member in the lineup.
Andy had previously been working with Göran Edman (ex John Norum Band, Yngwie Malmsteen), who was soon after recruited to complete this stellar lineup.
The new album, entitled IMPACT, was recorded by Covered Call along with Studio Fredman (Arch Enemy, Hammerfall, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames) and was mixed by Lars Chriss of Lion´s Share (who also performed a guest solo on the track “Hold On”) at LS Studio.
The band has left their suits behind and is ready to deliver unforgettable rock music in the true AOR spirit!
This new musical constellation together with vocalist Göran Edman now sound stronger than ever and with fantastic new material Covered Call will prove, once again, that their brand of hook-layered rock is a force to be reckoned with.
Track list: 1. Lorraine, 2. When the lights are out, 3. Think about all times, 4 Look into your mind, 5. Hold on, 6. Make a wish, 7. Nothing lasts forever, 8. Wake up, 9. When I´m gone, 10. Live it up, 11. Last goodbye

English drummer Pete Newdeck entered the studio in mid January and has now completed recordings on all fourteen tracks at Higher Studios in Tewkesbury.
German virtuoso guitarist Thorsten Koehne began guitar recordings this weekend at COP Studio in Bielefeld, Germany.
Among the fourteen songs selected for recording are Evil & Divine, Break The Silence, Unbreakable, Great Unknown and Devil In Disguise.
Mixing duties will once be performed by the bands long time engineer, Pink Cream 69 and Unisonic bassist, Dennis Ward, whilst German graphic designer Thomas Ewerhard (Edguy, Avantasia, Jorn) completes the same winning team who worked on the bands previous album, 2011′s critically acclaimed Trinity record.
The fourth album will be the first to feature the bands new vocalist, who at this point has yet to be named, from a meticulous audition process.
“The plan was never to rush this appointment” states bassist Paul Logue, who further adds “Our aim is to find the best possible voice and personality for EDEN’S CURSE. Getting to know these guys is a fun but slow process and we are extremely excited about the quality on show“.
Further studio video diaries and news will be posted on the bands official sites at:
George Kollias of the band Nile, one of the best extreme metal drummers in the world and long time friend of the band, agreed to participate in Outloud’s next album tentatively titled “Let’s Get Serious” (due out late 2013 – early 2014) recording all the drums!
Bob Katsionis says: “We (Chandler Mogel, Bob Katsionis and bassist Sverd) are currently working on new melodic and versatile songs, and George Kollias’ addition is gonna put the icing on the cake! We couldn’t be more excited about this lineup for our new album. The search is over for German based rockers King’s Call, they have recruited Mike Freeland to sing on their forthcoming new album “Lion’s Den”.
King’s Call search for a new singer went on from Germany, Scandinavia to the States and even Brazil but found Mike Freeland basically in their backyard. As it turns out while laying down the tracks producer Chris Tsangarides introduced Mike Freeland to the guys and they hit it off straight away.
The Euro rockers recorded the new album “Lion’s Den” in the Ecology Studios with top producer Chris Tsangarides (Gary Moore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy) and are in the final stages of mixing their next epic. The new recording will be the follow up album to their 2011 debut album “Destiny” (Mausoleum records). More news about the release date will follow shortly.
